ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success and final outcome of this project required a lot of guidance and assistance from many
people and I am extremely privileged to have got this all along the completion of my project. All that
I have done is only due to such supervision and assistance. I respect and thank Dr. Charu Dureja, for
providing me an opportunity to do the project work on Critical evaluation of Patents Act and giving
me all support and guidance which made me complete the project duly. I am extremely thankful to
her for providing such a nice support and guidance, although she had busy schedule. I am thankful
and fortunate enough to get constant encouragement, support and guidance from my teachers which
helped me in successfully completing my project work.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE-
The aim of researcher, in doing the research work is to give a broad outline of what are patents,
various developments in the law regarding patents in India and focus majorly on the various aspects
and provisions of the Patents Act, 1970. The project will further analyze the “the Patents Act, 1970,
its development through various changes in the Indian Society and its shortcomings” in contrast with
the various judicial precedents which are relevant to the topic.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:-
As whole research work for this project is confined to the library and books and no field work has
been done hence researcher in his research work has opted the doctrinal methodology of research.
Researcher has also followed the uniform mode of citation throughout the project work.

SOURCES OF DATA:-
For doing the research work various sources have been used. Researcher in the research work has
relied upon the sources like many books of intellectual property laws, Articles, and Journals. The
online materials have remained as a trustworthy and helpful source for the research.

SCOPES AND LIMITATIONS:-


Though the researcher has tried his level best to not leave any stone unturned in doing his research
work to highlight the various aspects relating to the topic, but the topic being so vast and dynamic
field of law and whose horizon and ambit cannot be confined and narrowed down, the research work
has sought with some of the unavoidable limitations.

HYPOTHESIS:-
Researcher by reading and doing preliminary research, adopted the hypothesis that the Indian patent
laws have been hugely influenced by the British patent laws and have developed through the years in
relation to the various economic and social changes in the Indian society.
