The most interesting weekend of my life

I still can believe the weekend in Scotland actually happened. It was the most amazing
weekend of my life and one I will never forget.

How could I imagine that a simple holidays trip will become an amazing adventure?

Let me first point out that I was invited by some friends who were in Edinburgh as
Erasmus students. It’s an interesting form to travel, because if you have friends abroad
you don’t need to worry about accommodation. Therefore, it’s a cheaper way to travel,
and in addition your friends can show you the city for free.

I saved up money all year and I decided to there. The plane flight was very peaceful
and I met a nice woman during it. She told me that he travelled a lot in her job. She
was carrying a baby and told me to be quiet because the baby was sleeping. I learned
a lot about her life and she told me they had lived in Spain for 5 years.

Once I arrived to Edinburgh I found out that my friends were waiting for me and we
start the journey by visiting all the popular monuments in Edinburgh.

There are several reasons why this city will surprise you. One of them, and the one
which shocked me more was the catacombs. A tour was taken by my friends and me
inside the underground of the city, a haunted place where you surely would get scared.
It was an exciting activity and we learn a lot about the old story of Edimburgh.

Furthermore, after that frightening time, we have lunch at the Elephant house, the
coffee shop where J.K. Rowling had his inspiration to write Harry’s Potter novels. Next
to this coffee shop , we take a look at the George Heriot’s School, a private college that
Rowling transformed in his novel as the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, you can enjoy a lot of
performances and different shows. It takes place annually in Edinburgh, Scotland, in
the month of August. It has been called the "most famous celebration of the arts and
entertainment in the world" . It is very popular and a lot of spectators attend it every
year. There is also a street market with lots of stalls selling food and clothes.

The official Fringe Programme includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre,
circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and
events. Comedy is the largest section and it was extraordinary because a lot of shows
were enjoyed by me that day. The actors were dressed up as clowns and they looked
for the interaction with the public.

In my opinion, despite Edinburgh is not as bigger as other european cities as Madrid or

Rome it contains a lot of great places to see.

As a conclusion, I should say that I am sure that I will get back to Scotland one day
because I fell in love with that country in that impressive journey.
