Early history Years active 1985–1992
Members "Scruff" Lewty, Phil Laidlaw and "Scotty" formed Hellbastard, 2008–present
which was to be a combination of Crass-like politics and the music of Labels Meantime Records,
Slayer. In 1990, after several EPs, full-lengths and line-up changes, the Earache Records,
group appeared on the Combat-Earache compilation album, Grindcrusher, Peaceville Records,
with the song "Justly Executed", from the Earache Records Natural Order Combat Records,
LP. Acid Stings, Bomb
Factory, Control
They are considered to be a hugely influential band in the crust punk
records,
genre. The genre allegedly adopted its name from the band's first demo,
Selfmadegod
Ripper Crust. They are also considered to be a part of the crossover thrash
records, Patac
scene.[1][2] After leaving Hellbastard, Scotty later went on to form hell
records, Civilisation
krusher. At one time Vocalist/Guitarist "Scruff lewty" and ex-guitarist
records
"Nick" (Nick Parsons)[3] played for their friends' band "Energetic Krusher".
Hellbastard also passed on a deal with Vinyl Solution Records in 1989 and Members Malcolm 'Scruff'
gave the chance to Energetic Krusher, subsequently their Path To Oblivion Lewty
album appeared soon after. Hellbastard opted to sign with Earache .
Original vocalist/guitarist "scruff" set about Reforming the band in 2008 and HellBastard concluded umpteen
American and European tours. . Prior to this "Scruff" formed other acts, including Nero Circus, Sidewinder, King Fuel,
Heavy Water, The Dischargers, and Moodhoover; all of which (with the exception of King Fuel) released albums and
toured extensively. HellBastard today in 2018 are busy writing the new album which by their own words will ‘be
vicious and different’. Taking the huge discography into account since 2008 this is no surprise. The band just keeps on
giving and giving. When frontman ‘scruff’ was recently cornered in a NYC vegan cafe he had this to say - Passion,
respect, dedication and actual song WRITING instead of talking utter patheticism all the time always gets a better
reaction.......”.
