3. Model Read (10 minutes)

4. Independent activity (25 minutes)


10:40am - Students will be given a picture from the text, glue it into their book and English books
label it inferring meaning based on the images. Model this before
sending them off with an illustration from the book.
10:45am - TASK: In their English books the title will be “Heart and the Bottle”
Picture Inferences. They will glue their picture in and then label it with
what they see in the picture. THEN they will make inferences on what
the author was meaning to tell you based on the picture. They will focus
on one but can move on to the next if they finish.

5. Closure (5 minutes)
- Bring students back to the mat and think, pair, share about how good
readers make an inference.
