Architecture of Mumbai

As any other urban area with a dense history,

Regional / Vernacular
Mumbai has several kinds of building types
developed over various stages of its evolution. While
the regional or vernacular style of architecture has Classical (Greek + Roman)
been existing in the recorded history of Mumbai,
there are a plethora of styles that are ‘imported’ into
the city with changes in rulers. In most cases, the
Romanesque
imported styles are also Indianized, or rather,
Mumbai-ized! It is this rich overlap of international Gothic
styles with local knowledge that make Mumbai a
very exciting place in the world for architecture.
Perhaps no more Indian city has seen the number Renaissance
of experiments with styles than Mumbai, making it
a truly world city! Baroque
