COURSE NAME : HEALTH OPTIMIZING PHYSICAL EDUCATION (H.O.P.E.) 1 Healthy Lifestyle

COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course provides students with understanding of proper diet and management of stress as components of achieving a
healthy lifestyle.

UNITS : THREE (3)

CONTACT HOURS : 3 hours per week

PRE-REQUISITE : None

COURSE OUTCOMES : Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:

1. Explain the harmful effects of smoking;


2. Describe a poor healthy diet;
3. Identify ways to prevent lifestyle diseases;
4. Analyze the importance of proper nutrition;
5. Plan ways to improve eating habits;
6. Describe stress and its causes and effects;
7. Explain ways to manage stress; and
8. Identify strategies in coping with stress.
