AUTOMOBILE

Some people think that the automobile has improved modern life, and others think that it has
caused serious problems. In my opinion, the automobile, despite its obvious benefits, has caused serious
problems. Among its other problems, the automobile is harmful to the environment, it is dangerous, and it is
expensive.
First of all, the automobile is harmful to the environment. For example, in order to make way for
their construction of highways, many forests have had to be cut down. Furthermore, the gas-consuming
automobile has caused a great deal of pollution. For instance, the smelting of steal, needed for making the
automobile, has also caused a great deal of pollution.
In addition, the automobile is dangerous. For example, pedestrians and cyclists get run over by
cars every day. Furthermore, drivers, as well as, passengers, get killed every day in accidents. Statistically,
it is more dangerous to travel by car than by airplane. For instance, even certain features built into a car,
which are designed to make driving the vehicle safer, can prove to be hazardous. The safety air bag, which
is known to have caused fatalities, is a case in point.
Finally, the automobile is expensive. For example, insurance costs, especially for beginner drivers,
can be very steep. Furthermore, the cost of the car itself can set the purchaser back many thousands of
dollars. For instance, the costs of just keeping the car on the road-costs of fuel and upkeep-add up very
quickly. Perhaps, it is the cost of the automobile that poses the most serious problem of all.
In summary, the automobile causes a serious problem, not least of which is the harm it does to the
environment. Moreover, it is dangerous to both the driver and the passenger, and to both the pedestrian
and the cyclist. Finally, it is very costly to own and maintain

The Blue Car and the Red Car

Mr. Peter had a majestic blue car. The car was very proud of his appearance. “How shabby the other cars
look!” thought he when he saw the other cars. One day a new car came to the neighbourhood. She was a
small red car and looked very pretty. A young girl owned her. All the cars were very happy to get a new
neighbour. “Hi,” honked one. “Welcome,” honked another. But the blue car did not say anything. “Ah!
Another shabby little thing has come,”‘ s6dii he felt he was falling in love with her. The new car was very
sweet and she became friendly with everyone. The blue car felt jealous but he was too proud to talk to her.
But one day he was very angry and honked, “You talk too much. I really hate cars who talk endlessly.” I
love talking to my friends. How will vain cars like you understand friendship?” snapped the red car. The
blue car was shocked. Never ever in his life anyone had talked to him like that. For the first time he felt
lonely. From then onwards he tried to drop his proud manners.

One day, while Mr Peter was driving him, the young girl drove the red car and past him. The red car quickly
planted a kiss on his cheek and sped off.
