ACTIVITIES

Question 3 Are there local industries implementing actions that

guaranty sustainable development and management of e-waste?

Introduction:

In this last stage of the third period, you are going to reinforce some terms that were
discussed previously; the purpose is that you can connect them with some elements
that have been considered through this third period. It is important you can make deep
analysis about this important theme.

a. In this first point, you are going to recognize the existing relationship between e-waste and
sustainability. Remember the terms “E-waste” and “sustainable development”, then answer the

b. Research on the internet about “the sustainable development goals”, you can use this link
(https://www.un.org/development/desa/disabilities/envision2030.html), some of these goals “promote
responsible management and effective control of e-waste”. Explain briefly how do they expect to
achieve this? Focus just on the following goals:
 Support the research and development of vaccines and medicines for the communicable and noncommunicable diseases that primarily affect developing
countries, provide access to affordable essential medicines and vaccines, in accordance with the Doha Declaration on the TRIPS Agreement and Public
Health, which affirms the right of developing countries to use to the full the provisions in the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property
Rights regarding flexibilities to protect public health, and, in particular, provide access to medicines for all
 By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all

 Support developing countries to strengthen their scientific and technological capacity to move towards more
sustainable patterns of consumption and production

 By 2020, sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts,
including by strengthening their resilience, and take action for their restoration in order to achieve healthy and
productive oceans

c. Choose one of the following local companies that promote the recycling of e-waste:
http://www.clickongreen.com/ https://ecocomputo.com/ http://www.litoltda.com
https://gecoraee.com

Explore its website and explain what actions does the company do in order to benefit sustainable
process related to the disposal and management of e-waste (environmental aspect)?

1. the treatment of electrical and electronic waste in the European Union and in America
2. ecocomputo participated in the first international day of electrical waste and electronics
3. Post-consumption waste training was carried out at the different City Halls of the provinces of
Alto Magdalena and Sumapaz, department of Cundinamarca.
4. Ecocomputo tries to promove the maintenance of the environment
5. 58 tons of post-consumption waste were collected in Santa Marta
6. Falabella Colombia and the EcoComputo Corporation come together to increase the collection

Before launching products based on the Participate in the financing of technological changes
exclusively economic analysis, observe if they in the city, for example, public lighting for those
are aligned with the environmental care communities that demonstrate greater environmental
objectives they claim to promote and if the result awareness
of this analysis shows a negative impact,
discard it.
The taxes that are created like the one of the stock
exchange, must have a destiny for the care of the
environment, education programs or creation of
industries of clean energy.

To conclude:
Analyze and support your ideas: What must be the role of some technologies in relation to improve the
development of sustainable development (considering the three aspects) in different fields?
(Include complete and meaningful ideas)
