whole school year.

Current Situation/ Critical Analysis Supporting Evidence Required Changes

According to the Headteacher’s Report, most
children are secure in ‘drawing and observation’.
Some classes were only developing in ‘imaginative
ideas’. Prior to Arts Week, many classes were only
emerging in their ‘knowledge of artists’.
Children said that they would like to do more art
projects. They also said that they would like to learn
a greater range of art techniques.

Children would benefit from more opportunities to do art
projects outside of arts week. If these projects could
include a design aspect then children may be able to
develop their imaginative ideas.
Learning about artists could be embedded into Art and
Design lessons throughout the year so that children
learn about a greater variety of artists and craftspeople
and aren’t reliant on Arts Week to cover this area.
To ensure that develop techniques using a variety of
different mediums, class teachers could select specific
mediums and techniques that will definitely be taught
throughout the year.
