Pipe Markers Uses

Pipe Markers: Usages

™ BenMark Markers Benefits

Pipe Markers Role & Importance

In an ever changing world of more stringent regulations, more

complex piping systems and shorter time to market, older
techniques of marking pipes with paint or stencils are just not
adequate anymore.

Pipe Markers Benefits

Dedicated industrial pipe markers allow quick identification of

pipe content, flow direction, origin, destination, P&ID schema, etc
by using relevant color code and legend.

Such markers, when correctly defined and installed, increase

safety, facilitate maintenance, minimize downtime and accelerate
commissioning while simplifying regulatory compliance.

Why choose BENMARK Pipe Markers !

BENMARK pipe markers are fully customizable: legend, design, size,

to fullfill your specific environment, industry, regional and end-user
rules, practices and specifications, including full compliance with
ASME/ISO standards.

BENMARK pipe markers are manufactured “on-demand”. Bringing

short leadtime and best price-to-value, they cater to your critical
deadline and budget targets.

With extended service temperature range, strong chemical

resistance, seawaterability and long life, BENMARK pipe markers XG
series are the perfect solution for harsh and offshore environments.

Pipe Markers: Compliance

Pipe Markers Compliance

Which Standard ?

BENMARK Pipe markers are designed to comply to the rules, practices and
regulations of your industry.

Supported Standards

For Marine & Offshore, ISO 14726:2008*

For Industrial Installation, ASME 13.1-2007*
For Chemical & Pharmaceutical Plants, GHS Rev 5*

Custom & Compliant Design

While we offer standard markers, most of the projects require specific

legends, identification code etc. in one or two langages.

We will apply our knowledge of the differents, often ambiguous and

conflicting international standards and will study your specific requirements
to propose BENMARK pipe markers dimensions, legends and designs that fit
your needs.

For custom designs, following customer preferences and requests, we

will use BENMARK label generator and submit for approval pipe markers
artwork with or without embedded directional arrows, uni-directional or
bidirectional, mono or bilingual texts while complying with the standard of
your choice, including color coding and sizing.

BENMARK pipe markers “on-demand” manufacturing process provide short

deadline even for small quantity and custom designs.

GHS Rev 5 Specifications
Applications
& Singapore SS586:2008

Most countries have adopted GHS Rev 5 as part of their standard framework for
labelling of storage and transport of hazardous sustances.

GHS Rev 5 is the basis of Singapore SS586, part 1-3 : 2008. The implementation of
this standard is now in its last phase, with the mandatory marking of all hazardous
substances, including mixtures.

While SS586 is mostly related to road transport, with requirement for Transport
Emergency Information Panels [TEIPs), and container storage with Storage Emergency
Information Panels (SEIPs), GHS Rev 5 apply to all ways of storing and transporting such
substances. More specificaly, rule 1.4.10.5.5.1 “Workplace labelling” explicity states
that GHS labels should be applied to “piping systems including valves” and that
such installations should ensure clear hazard communication through the “use of
displays with GHS symbols, colour and signal words in piping systems and processing
equipments”.

GHS Pipe markers Design

Pipe markers design specifications are based on a combination of pictograms,

colours, signal words and rules on how to apply and combine these.

With the advent of mixtures,

each situation and its related
set of markers has become very
specific and close to unique.

Pipe Markers: Product Specifications

Pipe Markers
Specifications
Materials

BENMARK pipe markers use German manufactured 100 micron thick pressure-sensi-
tive polyacrylate permanent adhesive vinyl sticker for their substrate.

BENMARK pipe markers are printed using solvent inks for outdoor durability, with the
printed graphics sandwidched between the substrate and the overlamination for
maximum protection.

We offer two types of overlamination:

- For harsh conditions, exposure to chemical, heat, sunlight, and long durability,
we recommend our Extended Temperature Range and Chemical Resistance
XG series. They come with a 100 micron thick gloss clear vinyl laminate. They are
more rigid, facilitating installation on pipe and flat surfaces.
- In less challenging environments, we propose our SM series. They come with 80
micron thick matt vinyl laminate.

Pipe Markers: Part# and Ordering
Pipe Markers
Parts Details
Markers dimensions & packing

BENMARK pipe markers come as individual pieces, already cut to your pipe
dimensions, thus simplifying your installation and reducing your total cost.

For markers of dimensions below 80cm, they come as flat pieces. Above, they are
rolled around a thick cardboard core for easier storage.

Markers Design

While we have a range of BENMARK pipe markers “standard designs”, most of

our customers opt for custom design, at no extra costs. This allows them to add
identification information and fit to their specific project requirements [langage,
etc].

For such custom design, we use our inhouse marker generator software to quickly
submit Final Artwork for approval before proceeding for manufacturing. When
required and quantity justify it, we will rush a small batch of actual samples for your
assessment.
