ATTACHMENT 8: Percolation Test Results

The Sidney Triangle Sub-Committee conducted three (3) percolation tests within the
Sidney Triangle. The results were extremely successful, as presented below:

Percolation Test One

LOCATION: North End of Triangle (Basin Area)
DATE: 7/25/2017

A A A A

B C D E
A 10:57 am: Dug hole approximately 8” wide and 8” deep
B 11:04 am: Pre-soaked hole
C 12:02 pm: Hole was dry (water fully absorbed, 58 minutes)
D 1:20 pm: filled hole for test
E 1:24 pm: water level had receded by two to three inches
F F 2:34 pm: hole was dry (water fully absorbed,
one hour and 14 minutes) Percolation
Test One
Conclusion: In both the pre-soak and
the test, the water in the hole was fully
absorbed in about one hour, exceeding
the requirement of one quarter
(1/4) inch per hour for rain gardens.

Percolation Test Two

LOCATION: Midpoint of Triangle (South End of Raingarden)
DATE: 7/25 – 7/26/2017

A 11:35 am: D
ug hole approximately 10” wide tapering some
toward the bottom, and about 7” deep
B 11:39 am: Pre-soaked hole
C 1:26 pm: Water fully absorbed (one hour and 47 minutes)
D 1:27 pm: Filled hole for test
F E 2:35 pm: Within one hour several inches were absorbed

7/26:
F 9:22 am: W
ater had been fully absorbed in less than the 24 hours
required for a successful test reading of 1/4" per hour.

Conclusion: In both the pre-soak and the

test, the water in the hole was fully absorbed
in less than two hours, exceeding the Percolation
requirement of one quarter (1/4) inch per Test Two
hour for rain gardens.

D 1:33 pm: Filled hole for perc test
E Absorption in progress
F 2:34 pm: Test water was fully absorbed (61 minutes)

Conclusion: In both the pre-soak and Percolation

the test, the water in the hole was fully Test Three
absorbed in just over one hour, exceeding
the requirement of one quarter (1/4) inch
per hour for rain gardens.

Conclusion for all three tests:
