BA POLITICAL SCIENCE (ANNUAL SYSTEM)

And also discussed and finalized as directed by Controller of Exam

The proposed Scheme of Studies is for BA Political Science (Annual Pr


ogram). The detailed aim
and objectives along with curriculum and list of courses are as under.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


The curriculum for B.A. has been prepared with the following objectives in view:
1. The program would be Bilingual and comprehensive in nature
2. A minimum level of excellence should be ensured throughout the country. In order to
achieve this objective student of Political Science should be encouraged and guided towards
the sources which help them learn to conduct scholarly inquiry.
3. Help them to develop ability to formulate research designs which address signif
icant
problems in a changing world.
4. The writing of standard books, incorporating suggested changes, in Urdu, English and other
languages would be encouraged so that reading material is available to students.

Economics, History, Sociology, and Geography.
b) Approaches to the study of Political Science: Traditional approach; Behavioral approach
c) Political System: i) Meaning and Characteristics; ii) Structure and Functions

2. Political Community
a) State and its Evolution
b) Concepts of State: i) Traditional concept with reference to Plato and Aristotle; ii) Islamic
concept with special reference to Ibn-Khaldun and Shah Waliullah; iii) Modern Concept
with reference to Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau; Concept of Sovereignty:
Monistic and pluralistic; Western and Islamic.
3. Individual in Political Community
