1 General Overview

The new Configurator is divided in the 4 sections Button Line, Navigation Line, Sidebar and Work Area:

These 4 main sections will be described in the following subchapters.

1.1 Button Line

In the button line you recognize as today the order code you have defined so far:

You can always exit or save your entries:

Cancel - exit the configuration window and no data will be saved and sent to the system.

Save Ð exit the configuration window and send the changed data back to the system.

An error message pops up if the configuration is invalid.

Pressing “OK” saves this invalid state of the configuration.

Pressing “Cancel” brings you back to the Configurator.

1.2 Navigation Line

The navigation line guides you through the different modules of the configuration:

When you are done with a module you can use the navigation line to go to the next or back to a
previous module. The modules may vary dependent of the options you select. “Basic” configuration,
“Marking” (Tags), ”Specials” (TSP), “Details” (Rucksack) and “Completed” are all existing modules:

Dark blue active module

Blue required module
Grey not selectable module (because the configuration is still invalid or a precondition is not
fulfilled to get to the next module)

Tooltips are available for all functions and buttons of the Navigation Line (and Button Line) if you scroll
over them with your mouse:

Check mark - this module is valid, e.g.

Zoom - you can change the zoom from 60% to 160%

1.3 Sidebar

The sidebar shows the features of the product. The color of the left border indicates the state of the
feature:

Page 5
EXTERNAL

1.4 Working Area

If you click on a feature in the sidebar the work area displays all options of this feature.

Filter Ð you can filter the displayed entries by using the filter functionality

You can also filter the results by selectable/not selectable options with the following icons:

Show all options Ð all options are displayed (also the ones which have been excluded by another
selected option or have a general exclusion

Show only active options Ð the options which are not selectable (any more) are not displayed

2 Procedure

The procedure of running through the new configurator is divided in the different modules “Basic”
configuration, “Marking” (Tags), ”Specials” (TSP), “Details” (Rucksack) and “Completed”:

The different modules are described in detail in the following subchapters.

2.1 Basic

If you start configuring a product you will always begin with the basic module:

Page 6
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

If you enter the Configurator with an existing configuration (complete order code) and the
configuration is valid, you will get some additional modules (depending on the defined options):

If you enter the Configurator with an existing configuration and the configuration is invalid, you will be
directed to the first invalid item of your existing order code:

2.1.1 Exclusions

If you click on an excluded option, the configurator supports you to understand the exclusion by
showing you which features are related to the exclusion. This supports you to understand which
option(s) you have to deselect, so that the required excluded option gets available again:

Page 7
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

The same conflict is reflected in the side bar as well:

With a click on the marked option you can jump to it.

With a click on the red cross you can deselect the option directly (without having to jump to it).

The PCs have the possibility to maintain single exclusions (e.g. for phased out options). Such excluded
options cannot be chosen any more, these are independent from any other selected options:

If a product has a complete exclusion, nothing can be chosen.

The PCs have the possibility to maintain so called length dependent exclusions. If a specific value was
defined at a certain length option, another option won’t be selectable any more.

Page 8
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

By jumping to the length option, you can recognize which lengths are not allowed or which option you
cannot choose:

2.1.2 Inclusions

Beside the exclusions, the PCs have the possibility to maintain inclusions as well.

Inclusions have source options and target options, means they are dependent to other options. If a
certain source option was selected, the target option must get selected as well. So in case of an
inclusion you sometimes have to choose further options.

With the red check mark on the message you can select the dependent option:

Page 9

2.1.3 Lengths

Length options show their valid range in the editable field:

When you choose this option, the values disappear and will be shown as an error. You have to type in a
correct value according the displayed message:

This value will be displayed in the sidebar after it was defined:

2.2 Markings (Tags/Bus address)

The Marking module appears depending on the options you have selected in the Basic module. The
Marking module will ONLY be active if the Basic configuration is valid and you have selected a Tag/Bus.

As first step in the “Marking” module you have to select a material before the other fields get active
and any text can be entered:

Page 10
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

As soon as you define the material:

Two new functions will get active:

Per Device Ð for each device all tags and buses can be maintained together:

Per Tag Ð for each tag and bus the devices can be maintained

Page 11
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

Copy and Paste Ð you can paste your texts into this special field and then it will be transferred to
tag and bus

Line numbers Ð you can choose the number of lines for your tag

If the number of devices of an existing configuration is greater than the requested quantity, you have to
delete some devices. This can be done with a click on the red trash can:

Page 12
EXTERNAL

2.3 Specials (including TSP)

The Specials module appears depending on the options you have selected in the Basic module. The
Specials module will ONLY be active if the Basic configuration is valid.

2.3.1 Material

For some options a “special” material number has to be chosen.

2.3.2 Text

For some options a long text can be maintained (can be translated into several languages):

2.3.3 TSP

TSPs are handled through different material numbers as well. Each modification has a separate
material number:

Page 13
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

Possibly your required modification is not suitable to the defined configuration or is not existing yet:

If “no results” is displayed, please press “Enter” and the modification will be searched in the database:

Refresh - press the refresh button and new data will be loaded

Cancel - for going back without reloading press the cancel button

Please contact your local SC responsible if the required modification is not found at all or request a new
modification through the “unknown material” as done today:

Page 14
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

You can always go back to the basic configuration and select other options if required. If you then
switch to the “Specials” module again, the new data is loaded. Formerly selected materials could be no
longer available.

Some modifications are dependent to other options. If you do not select/define all required options, the
inclusion is violated and error messages are shown:

If all of the proposed materials are selected, the configuration should be ok and you can go on with the
next feature.

Please use the filter to narrow your results by material number or description:

If a material is out of date, it is greyed out.

Page 15
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

If you select such a material, an error message will appear:

Some materials require additional specification (variable fields which can be input fields or dropdown
lists). A special field has a range restriction which will be shown if you enter a wrong value:

2.4 Details

The Details module appears depending on the options you have selected in the Basic module and the
materials you have selected in the Specials module. The Details module will be active if the basic
configuration and the specials are valid.

2.4.1 Alternatives

The first step in the details module is to select an alternative. The available alternatives are calculated
from the selected options of the basic module. If there is only one alternative it is preselected and this
step is omitted.

Page 16
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

2.4.2 Fields

After selecting an alternative the options are displayed in the sidebar. When clicking on an option the
work area shows input fields for your values. Some fields may be greyed out and cannot be changed:

2.4.2.1 Passive Fields

Show passive Ð you can switch the view to see all options (and all fields)
Now the completely “passive” options and the “passive” fields are shown. The values of them
can not be changed.

Page 17

2.4.2.2 Setting values

Values which are not correct are marked with an error message. Type in other values or select
something new from the dropdown lists.

Numeric fields accept only numbers, sometimes only positive numbers.

A field may have an additional description. Move your mouse over the question mark to show the
description.

2.4.2.3 Value checking

Some basic checking of the input values is immediately done after pressing enter or leaving a field. Also
numeric values will be formatted. Here the value is out of range:

Page 18
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

Here we forgot to select a unit:

You can type in text into a dropdown list. Your text snippet works as a filter on the list.

Here the basic checking gives no more errors and the option is marked valid.

2.4.3 Validation

If all options were filled with values, start the overall validation by clicking on “Validation”.

Page 19
EXTERNAL
Endress+Hauser Configurator 6.0

This validation proves values against formulas or checks relations between values.

You can go back to the erroneous option with clicking on the text below the error message or with
clicking on the option in the sidebar.

Now the same error messages are shown at the fields. Change the values according to the message.

After editing the values you have to run the validation once more.

If there are no errors left the validation will change to green (validation successful):

2.5 Completed

After you have finalized and validated your configuration:

Please use the “Apply” button to save and send your configuration back to the system:

3 CAD

This module will only be available for the products which have 2D/3D drawings available.

It only gets active after you have finished your basic configuration.
