Substance Abuse Discussion

I think that this discussion was very interesting. I never thought about direct actions that I

could be taking in order to avoid trying addictive substances. I have a lot of friends who said that

they would only try illicit drugs once but have ended up starting an addiction. It’s extremely

unfortunate to see the ones around you suffering from a disease such as addiction. The first time

that I watched a presentation about staying away from drugs, I wasn’t aware of the amount of

people who actually do them. It was mind-boggling to grow up and find that a lot of people that I

know struggle with quitting drugs. The best thing that we can do to prevent addiction is to

always keep young adults and teenagers aware of what they might face if they become addicted

to that drug. Having open and honest discussions with my parents is what kept my sisters and I

clean.
