Contents UNIT 1 INTRODUCTION

enviroment? Fundamentals of product design. Desing and production
management

UNIT 2 DEFINE THE PROBLEM

What’s the target group. What do the costumers want?


What’s the way they use the products.
Desing on quality function. Identify the list of constrains.

UNIT 3 IDEATE

In this stage end user motivation and needs are identified and ideas are
generate to meet these. Include sistemical procedures to generate ideas.
And the way the greatest inventors generated their ideas.

UNIT 4 SHAPE THE IDIA

Include the list of attributes, characteristics and feature that better describe
the product, such as
Materials
Shape
Proportion
Symmetry
Colours
and the way they can be mixed to get some original results.

UNIT 5 SELECTION

Is the point at wich one of the proposed solutions is chosen for


development, by evaluating in therms of
Culture
Economic
Functionality
Ergonomy
Friendly environment, an so on.

UNIT 6 TRENDS

Include the way globalization and technology changes influence in the


design process:
Ecodesing, customization, minimalism.

UNIT 7 PROTOTYPING

A prototype can be used to test the technical feasibility of a desing idea to


see if it works as a physical object. The students do a sensible analyses to
give the final approach to the product.
Methodology Every single class start with a short summary where the professor give
metodologia some general directions about the topic.
All the students know the subject from the previous class, so they have
read something and a chat begin with comments and sentence they found
interesting.
After that professor show the techniques to be used and the students
choose the object they want to work with.
Finally just 30 minutes before the class end, everybody socialize their
experiences and outcomes.
