“Homeworks are cool. But too much homework is cruel.

Students spend most of the hours of the day in school. They go to
school during weekdays having 8 to 9 different subjects to learn and
teachers give homeworks for them to work on when they come home
from school. Homeworks during weekdays are acceptable. But, WHAT
IS NOT ACCEPTABLE is that, TEACHERS ALSO GIVE
HOMEWORKS to be done during weekends.
To the honorable adjudicators, members of the opposing team, Mr.
Chairperson and audience, GOOD EVENING. I am the necessity
speaker of the group and let it be resolved that NO HOMEWORK WILL
BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS DURING WEEKENDS is what the
affirmative side is going to talk about tonight.
According to Ron Kurtus, the founder of the School for Champions,
homework is reinforcement for what was taught in class. Homework is
also consists of studying beyond what was explained in class and tasks
that are simply meant to keep the students busy. While weekend, based
on Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries, is the time during Friday through
Sunday evening, regarded as a time for leisure, or just simply a time
when most of the people do not work.
Your honors, the Department of Education issued Memorandum No. 392
which orders teachers not to give homeworks on Fridays for the students
to have quality time with their families on weekends.
We strongly agree to this memorandum because of these main points.
First, homework on weekends overstresses students. They spend most
of their time in school—learning, accomplishing tasks, and gathering a
lot of information. Weekends are the only time for them to take a break
from school. But unfortunately, students are given homeworks during
weekends. This would likely result to information overload, stress to
students because, instead of relaxing, they are sitting on their study
tables having no choice but to make their homeworks.
The second main point is, weekends are specially meant for a quality
time with their family. During weekdays, parents are at work while
children are in school. Weekends are the best time for a family to enjoy
and bond with each other. Why would you even take from them that
special time for the family?
Another important thing is STUDENTS ARE HUMAN BEINGS,
NOT ROBOTS. They get tired from the busy schedule they have in
school during weekdays. Weekends are the time where they can enjoy
their hobbies.
More importantly, Students might learn more from observing the
real world. Homeworks are not the only way for students to learn.
Teachers should also inspire students to seek ways to learn from real-
world experiences. Spare the students the weekend for them to
effectively learn from their own.
Thus, as the necessity speaker, I would say that NO HOMEWORK
WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS DURING WEEKENDS.
