1. Introduction
The Introduction
This portion of the paper is an opening body of knowledge which highlights the
discussion of the topic. The introduction shall follow this move structure: first
paragraph shall contain the overall discussion of the topic, second paragraph shall
provide studies related to the topic, the third paragraph shall discuss the problems
encountered in relation to the topic, and the fourth paragraph shall explain as to
how the research to be conducted can serve in explaining why the
problems exists and provide practical solutions to alleviate the identified problem.

1.1 Research Questions

This section contains the general statement regarding what the study is about.
Below it are the research questions which are specified set of questions stated for
clarity and guidance particularly on what data to gather and as to who will be the
respondents involved.

2. Methodology
This section of the paper contains the research design, participants, instrument,
and procedure. The abovementioned should be specified and discussed in order
to present a thick description of the technical terms in qualitative research.

2.1 Design
This section pertains to the research design to be used in the study whether
pure phenomenology, hermeneutics phenomenology, narrative, or single or
multiple case study.

2.2 Subjects/Informants/Participants
This portion of the chapter will discuss who are the subjects (for case study),
informants (for narrative) and participants (for phenomenological) involved in the
research. The sampling to be utilized would also be discussed and elaborated
herein where the researchers will explain and discuss the nature of the sampling
and the process involving it.

2.3 Instrument
This section of the paper shall discuss what will be used to gather the data needed
in the research (e.g. interview guide questions). The researchers need to
comprehensively discuss their guide and probing questions here. Moreover, the
manner for documentation or recording also needs to be elaborated here (e.g.
audiotape, voice recorder, video recorder).

2.4. Procedure
The procedure is the discussion of the appropriate steps needed for the
development of the research study. Specifically, the researcher/s will follow these
important steps which they will have to discuss individually:
(a) Letter seeking for the principal’s approval
- Researchers need to indicate that prior to the provision of the consent to
the informants, the signature of the principal should be sought

(b) Provision of the consent-to-participate form

- Researchers should create the consent to participate form which contains
the title of their research, their names, and contact number so that informant
will acquire the knowledge regarding the focus of the study and would be
able to ask questions regarding the whole agenda of the study. Moreover,
the researchers should also indicate the ethics in research: voluntary
participation, informed consent, protection from harm, confidentiality, and
anonymity

(c) Briefing of the informants regarding research ethics

- Once the informants would agree to participate in the study, the researchers
will meet them to discuss verbally the research and discuss individually the
ethics involved. Also, the researchers will inform the informants that the
interview will be recorded via audio or video recorders
Page 4 of 5

(d) Administration of the interview

- After the briefing, the researchers can begin to interview the informants
either through Key Informant Interview or Focus Group Discussion. The
interview will be recorded via audio or video recorder with consent from the
informants

(e) Principle of reciprocity

- After the interview, the researchers are expected to give a token of gratitude
to the informants to reciprocate their effort and honest in sharing their
emotions, ideas, and personal experiences which are most often sensitive

(f) Audit trail (transcription and translation)

- Once the recordings are archived and properly stored, the informants will
begin to formulate the audit trail which is composed of the transcription and
the translation
- For the process of transcription, all of the utterances of the informants,
including the fillers, would be involved
- For the translation, the transcript should be translated in a contextual
manner to avoid loss and gain of meaning. The researchers may ask
assistance from English language experts for checking.
- After the audit trail has been established, the researchers will return to their
informants for the checking of consistency and validity of the responses in
the transcript and the preservation of meaning in the translation

(g) Thematic Analysis

- Once the students have formulated their audit trail, they will then analyze
the gathered data through the identification of codes and patterns of themes
from the responses of their subject/informants.

(h) Triangulation (for phenomenology) / Thick description (for case and narrative)
- For researchers who have used the phenomenological research, the
themes generated from the KII will undergo the triangulation process
wherein the themes will be counter-checked by the responses of the FGD
participants to establish consistency and completeness.
- Meanwhile, for those who have used the case study and narrative research,
the responses from the KII will be supported by a thick description of
literatures which may contradict or support the themes.

(i) Plagiarism Checker

- After the analysis and triangulation resulting to the research outcomes and
findings, the researchers will subject their paper to a plagiarism checker to
which they need to ensure that the similarity index of their paper would not
exceed fifteen percent (15%).

(j) Peer Debriefing

- To establish the correctness of the research format and the discussion of
important terms and contents, the researchers’ paper will be submitted to a
peer debriefer.

(k) Presentation and publication of the paper

- Finally, to complete the whole research procedure, the paper will undergo
the outline and final defense for better guidance through suggestions and
validation of a panel of experts. Then, after all steps have been observed
and followed, the paper will be published.

3. Results

This section of the paper will present the research findings gained through the
analysis of themes and codes from the responses of the Key Informant Interview.

4. Discussion

Implication for Practice

The researchers will establish in this section the implication of the findings in their
study.
