Background
▪ Fast growing of the variable renewable energy power plant in Sulawesi needs
some flexible power plant to overcome the high intermittency.

▪ Flexible power plant with high ramp rate such as hydro power plant need
some years to build and high cost of capital investment (reservoir or river
treatment)

▪ And other new Flexible power plant is limited due to high fuel cost and
impossible to build only for reserving the variable renewable energy power
plant.

Page 2
Aims and Objectives
▪ To search some alternatives from economical aspect of flexible power
plant
1. Build new gas power plant or

2. Build new battery energy storage system or

3. Build new pump hydro power plant

Page 3
Project Methodology
▪ Comparing with using the same system and demand. This demand will be
fulfilled by 3 case study i.e Gas and grid or Battery and grid or Pump Hydro
and Grid.

▪ References are from many resources DEN Technology Catalogue, existing

data from PLN.
