Background

Rehabilitation of orphans and disowned children is the biggest issue in Chitral, because there is
no system where such children can be accommodated. In case of death of parents due to
accidents or other cause children become the ultimate affectees. In such eventuality affected
children become completely helpless and even lack shelter to live and to avail basic needs of life.
In order to cater this problem “ Baitul Atfal” has been established in Chitral to accommodate
such displaced and discarded Children. In Baitul Atfal boarding and lodging facilities have been
provided to the children and they have enrolled in schools as well. Ultimate purpose of this
system is to support these vulnerable children so that they also have normal life, get education
and become peaceful citizen of the country.

Rehabilitation of discarded children and bring them under mainstream development is big issue
in Chitral. There is no such organization working on this crucial issue and as a result those
children who are discarded and disowned are almost left in the mercy of nature. They lack basic
needs of life like “Meal, Clothing and Shelter” not to speak of education and other facilities.
How to tackle this crucial humanitarian issue was serious problem faced by Idara Baitul Atfal so
for. In order to resolve the issue on sustainable basis this center has been established with the
sole aim of providing basic needs of life to these displaced and disowned children in this center.
In the center “Baitul Atfal” basic needs of life are provided to the children with the support of
philanthropists and other humanitarian organizations. Although temporarily these children are
shifted in the rented building of the Baitul Atfal and basic needs are provided to them through
philanthropists support, but still these orphan children needs support in the following areas.
1. Support in Provision of Foods items
2. Support in meeting expenses of building Rent
3. Support in providing them with cloths and other needs of life.
4. Support in the field of Education.
5. Support in Scholl transport of Orphan Kids.
At present following children are fully enrolled with Baitul Atfal on regular basis and due to
limitation of space up to 15 more children are being supported in their homes. If these children
are provided with support they will become peaceful and educated citizen of the country and
contribute in development.

1. Providing foods, shelter and clothing to the orphans in Chitral
2. To bring marginalized children into mainstream society
3. To provide basic education and other livelihood facilities to Orphans in Chitral
4. To support marginalized/discarded orphans on humanitarian ground.
