Step1: Devoting Time to Practice and Training

MFor most of us, we are not as talented as those professional soccer players. Yet, an old

Chinese saying points that: “Diligence is the means by which one makes up for one's

dullness.” Although we might lose a little bit at the beginning, we can make much more

scientific efforts to fulfill the lack of intelligence. At first, we can make a specific schedule Commented [MOU1]: I am not sure what you mean.
I think that you mean that while it is hard to

improve our shooting skills, and then on the next day, you we can try towill practice more

about passing. After the schedule is completed, we must execute those instructions every
day.; Wwe cannot relax any single daysat all without having trainingand should train every

day. If we have one day off, we will fall into this sense of relaxation, and we will never

follow the instructions dedicatedly as we did before having rested. One of the greatest

Chinese writers, Xun Lu, pointed out that “Talent determines the upper limit, but your efforts Commented [MOU2]: I learn a lot from your

determine the lower limit.” When we put enough efforts into work on something, even

though we do not have extraordinary talents, we can still complete the high-level

achievements achieve a lot in playing soccer than like those genii who do not pay many

efforts on training. Commented [MOU3]: I know what you mean but I

would cut this phrase. It does not add a lot to
your narrative.
Step 2: Healthy Body Exercise

To become a soccer athlete, we need to achieve an essential requirement:, having a healthy

and robust body not only for the legs but for all of the parts on your body. When playing soccer,

we need to have high explosive power, offered by your leg muscles. We need great agility and

balance provided by your waist and abdomen. We also have to control greatbe strengthstrong,

and all of the and to be able to engage all muscles do this on yourin your body. As a result,

exercise should be donewe should exercise every day. In addition, maintaining a healthy diet

is another significantsignificant point for us. When playing a match, most of us would consume

1500 to 3000 calories, so we need proper meals every day to help us containing maintainour

body health. It is better for us to have more colorful fruits and vegetables, or some meat, like

chicken or beef, but with as less fried food as we can. Moreover, the water supply must be

sufficient. Soccer playing will consume lots of water inside our bodies; to keep healthy, we

need to prepare lots of water at room temperature before doing exercise.

Step 3: Use Your Brain on the Field

Sometimes we do not understand the key points provided by our coaches, and at this time

we need to find some professional players’ videos. We can carefully observe their
performance on the field and analyze why they act like that. Then find out their advantages

that we can gain experiences and improve ourselves. In addition, when playing soccer, we

need to use our brain to analyze the possible next-step action. For example, when your

teammate gets the ball, you can predict that he will pass toward to where and begin to

accelerate to space in that direction, which could help your teammate to create more passing

choices.

Step 4: Play More with Your Teammates!

As we all know, soccer is a team-playing game. Even though you have the greatest player

in the world, you can not win all of the championships if other members are not qualified

enough. Thus, playing more with teammates is essential; when matching on the ground, a

kind of trustiness and tastiness will automatically form. It will help your team to become the

most fabulous team, and you will become a better player as well.

An analysis to the translation:

Becoming an athlete is a dream for every young boy. When looking at those glorious

players standing on the podium, wearing the flags of their countries, most of us must imagine
ourselves standing there. I was one of those boys dreaming about this. I sometimes imagined

that I could become the best soccer player in the world and help my country to win the World

Cup championship. Who does not want to become the a hero of for his country? However,

because of the lack of talent, patience, and because of the risks involved in becoming a

professional soccer player, I gave up my dream when I was at primary school. However,

Tthis abandonment decision becomes is one of the most regretted things that I regret most

later in my life. As a result, I have always dreamt of guiding the teenagers to make their

dreams come true. As early asIf they read my guide, they will have more chances to become

a professional soccer player.

ThusTo begin my translation, I found some papers or essays written by expertise experts

in soccer training. However, the articles are provided to those specialists; they are usually

long and less efficient to read, so it is hard for teenagers to understand and spend time on that,

especially for those who are not good at explicit training pieces of knowledge. Therefore, I

translated their papers to a kind of guide, which is like the summary ofsummarizes processes

of cooking but changing the methods of cooking intosteps that you need to follow to develop

skills of trainingyour soccer playing., and the guide might be a much more acceptable writing

genre to those teens. In this guide, I summarize the context in of those papers and list them as

four steps; each of them contains one of the most critical experience to become a better

soccer player. That makes the boring and tedious training methods tidier, and I believe

teenagers would prefer to look at a special guide more than reading essays. Besides, this

unique writing genre is neoteric so that it might be more attractive to teens.

After completing my paper guide, I found that the paper guide might also be inconvenient

for my audiences because they could not directly detect the primary sources I cited. However,

they could not become a better soccer player if they only get the information I listed on my

sources and examples next to each part of my guide. If they want to develop more in this

aspect, he only needs to click on the buttons, and the primary sources will be shown to him.

Besides, the website guide can be more obvious to read and understand compared with the

paper guide, because different colors separate the parts of the guide, and this kind of color

difference could concentrate our views.

When doing this translation, I made a summary that excluded most of the proper nouns,

and tried to use the most easily understandable way to paraphrase those. For example, in the

article “My Exercise Training Program Essay,” the author introduces the methods for training

each part’ muscles explicitly. (123HelpMe) Thus, the article contains lots of unusual names

of the body muscles; therefore, most of the teenagers would not be familiar with those, and

this sense of unfamiliar would bring them away from reading the whole paper. As a result, I

only pointed out the training methods for the most basic muscles for playing soccer, and I put

a link in the guide. If the audience has interests in developing their muscles, they can click on

the button and directly go to the original essay to explore more about muscle training. Even

though this exclusion reduces some depths of the knowledge in the genre translation, the

readability of the new guide has been raised a lot. This change will not make my readers feel

troublesome; instead, it would attract views because it looks much more concise compared

with the original essays. I believe this reduction will be beneficial to my guide and make it

more popular among teenagers.

Not only making the reduction, but I also added my opinion to the experience mentioned

by those specialists. Although I am not some professional soccer player, I could give the

teenagers my personal experience with training as a typical soccer lover. For instance, about

the example to practice dribbling, I used my method which is not mentioned by “The Basic

Soccer Fundamentals Essay,” because I believe that the professional training methods are too

abstruse to use in the teenager’s daily training. If teenagers cannot understand the processes it
states, they will not continue their reading, and the paper will lose their usefulness. However,

my example is more closed to those teenagers, and they can even achieve my exercise when

they are playing alone. It might be more suitable for the entry level soccer players to practice

rather than the methods mentioned in the essay.

During this translation, I have encountered lots of troubles. The first one would be the

topic choice. This Writing Project 3 is a hard project because the sources are always case-

hardened. Therefore, if we want to translate them into another entirely different genre but

keep the same contents, we need to find flexible sources that could fit into lots of types of

writing. As a result, due to my intimacy with soccer playing and my young dream I

introduced previously, I chose to translate soccer training essays into a new genre.

Then, the next huge problem was the new genre choice for this topic. I heard my Commented [MOU5]: New paragraph

suggestions from my friends, and one of them offered a guide for me. It is a unique writing

style, and it is also the first time I contact with it, so it triggered my endless curiosity. To

further understand this genre, I searched for lots of standard guides online and found out that

this type of writing has lots of special features. For example, all of the guides have short

titles, expressing the most crucial subjects that will introduce in the content of the guides

inside the titles. Besides, the word choice in those guides are extremely concise; the authors

do not add more adjectives to dress too much on their subjects. And most of those have a

subtitle for each main part to make their audiences understand more clearly about the thesis

of this part. This kind of information introduction achieved my ideal writing style perfectly.

And due to the article “Reading Games”, introduction is the most important part of an essay,

because it is the first thing we look at during reading. This is in agreement with my goals to Commented [MOU6]: Citation?

the genre translation. Thus, I decided to translate the formal essays and papers to this easily

understandable writing style. Furthermore, according to McCloud’s comic, when doing genre

translation, we have to make the “choice of frame”; that means, we need to change our point
of views during the genre translation. (McCloud, 4) In my brief guide, I turned the second-

person description in the papers into the first-person point of view, which could bring more

sense of familiarity to my audience.

After completing this genre translation, I find that this is the harshest writing project I

have ever seen. To finish this project, we need to master both of the critical points of those

two writing genres, and we also have to add our thoughts into the translated type. It is a hard

job because if adding something new, we have to break up the original structure created by

the professional writers. Thus, the skills of transitions we learned and discussed in the class

become essential. Besides, there are some constraints for my new, translated genre, which

restrict my word choice. For example, because of the unique style for my writing project is

the guide, I could not put too much context inside, or it would become another piece of the

essay. Thus, I decided to make a summary of the contents of the primary sources and

separated them into four main parts, which looks more likely to a guide to teenagers and

could attract more potential readers. In addition, I have to make an exclusive checklist of

“ingredients” to my guide, which is something we need to prepare for the process to become

a better soccer player.

To sum up, in this genre translation, I found some essays and papers about the methods to

improve our abilities to play soccer and translated them into two kinds of guides: a paper

guide and a website guide. I hope I could complete a perfect guide, which contains more

sources about the methods to become a better soccer player, in the future, and I hope more

teenagers will get benefits from my guide and continue their soccer dream.
