4 1 General

1.1 Notes
This document basically describes the firmware installation for the MammoUnit system
component.
Only qualified and system-trained service staff is allowed to perform MAMMOMAT Inspi‐
ration system installation, service, maintenance, and quality assurance. Ensure that the
most recent version of the service documentation is on hand.

1.1.1 Safety Information

 To avoid any risk of injury to persons and/or damage to the system read and observe the
General Safety Notes (TD00-000.860.01.xx.02).

 Adhere to the safety guidelines in the document “Mammography; Safety Information;

System; Safety Information including IEC 62353” (SP00-000.860.03.xx).

1.1.1.1 Icons

X Warning about ionizing radiation or radioactive substances. Tests and adjustments that
must be performed with the radiation switched on are indicated by this radiation warning
icon.

1.1.2 General remarks

NOTICE
The screen shots in this document are used for illustration and orientation purpo‐
ses.
 For this reason, the actual screen may show some differences.

NOTICE
The installation of software/firmware not released or validated for the system is
strictly prohibited.
 Otherwise, the syngo software or one or more of its applications may mal‐
function.

1.1.3 Component-specific remarks

Installing the firmware of the MammoUnit will be performed via the service software or
from the OS of the WH AWS.

1.1.3.1 Network connectivity information

Installing the MammoUnit firmware will be performed via the network connection WH
AWS - MammoUnit.

1.1.3.2 Condition
Before the firmware can be updated, the MammoUnit must be in good condition and
functioning properly, or must be brought into good condition.

1.1.3.3 Firmware versions information

MammoUnit firmware versions are only allowed in the combination with specific WH AWS
software versions. Refer to the latest version of the document “List of Compatible Parts,
System, Compatibility List, XPW7-330.840.01.xx.02.

1.1.3.4 Acceptance or Constancy Tests

If reinstallaing the same MammoUnit firmware, it is recommended to perform a constan‐
cy test prior and after the firmware update to verify that the Glandular dose and the mAs
values for a certain object , such as 40 mm PMMA for example, in mode AEC are still con‐
stant.
Performing the acceptance test of the MAMMOMAT Inspiration is recommended whenev‐
er changes that might affect performance, such as different MammoUnit firmware, have
been made to an existing system.
Tests from the Quality Control Manual have to be performed then.
Depending on the country where the system is installed, additional tests have to be per‐
formed.
n In Germany, tests specified by §16 of the X-ray Ordinance must be performed.
n In the USA, tests specified by DHHS regulations must be performed.

1.1.3.5 Passwords
The required passwords are not included in this document. You will find them in the CS
Knowledge Base on the intranet or you can obtain them from the relevant USC or RSC.

1.2 Requirements

1.2.1 Required aids and tools

No special tools or aids are required. Installing the MammoUnit firmware requires access
to the User Interface of the WH AWS.
- The MammoUnit is delivered on CD or can be found under C:\AWS\MU_Firmware.

1.2.2 Backup
n Although loading the MammoUnit firmware will not affect the configuration parame‐
ter or settings of the MammoUnit, performing a backup is recommended prior to in‐
stalling or updating the firmware. MammoUnit settings or parameters are stored on
CBS.

2.1 Backing up and restoring the MammoUnit settings

2.1.1 Backing up the MammoUnit settings

1. Log in to “Local Service” and select “Acquisition System / Web Service Interface”.
 The Web service interface opens.
2. From the main menu, select “Backup/Restore” and then scroll down and click “Back‐
up” in the window.
 A window pops up asking you to select the destination path of the backup.

3. Click “Save”.
 The “Choose File” box opens.
4. Select the destination path “C:\AWS\MammoUnit”, enter the file name in this format:
“MU_Config_YYYY_MM_DD.mcf” (for example, MU_Config_2008_06_09.mcf), and
then click “Save” to start the backup procedure.
 The folder C:\AWS\MammoUnit will be part of the WH AWS backup procedure.

5. Confirm the message box with “Close” when the file download is complete.

6. From the MammoUnit main menu, select “Set Time and IP Address” and then “Con‐
fig IP”.

7. Write down the network configuration data:

8. Close the MammoUnit Web Service Interface.

2.1.2 Restoring the MammoUnit settings

Prerequisites:
A valid backup file (*.mcf) of the MammoUnit must be on hand, for example in “C:\AWS
\MammoUnit”.

Procedure:
1. Switch on the WH AWS.
 The MammoUnit stays off!
2. On the WH AWS, perform “Restart Application,” and then log in as administrator.
 Find the standard password in the knowledge base.

 Make sure to shut down the syngo application before beginning the MammoUnit config‐
uration restore procedure!

3. Switch on the MammoUnit using the ON button on the control box.

4. Open Internet Explorer and enter “192.168.0.100” in the URL line.
 The “Web Service Interface” opens.
 If the default IP address of the MammoUnit has been changed, enter the ap‐
propriate MammoUnit IP address into the URL line.
5. From the main menu, select “Backup/Restore.”
6. In the menu, click “Browse...”, select the valid MammoUnit backup file (the filename
format will be “MU_Config_YYYY_MM_DD.mcf”) in the directory C:\AWS\MammoUnit
(example location; the actual location may vary), and click “Open”.
7. Click “Restore” to transfer the backup data to the MammoUnit.
8. Confirm the message box and wait until the MammoUnit has rebooted - this will take
about one minute.
 Wait until the MammoUnit is up and running again.
9. Refresh the Web browser by pressing the “F5” function key, and then select “Back to
the Main Menu”.
10. Within the main menu of the Web Service Interface, select “Configuration data” and
make sure that all states are set to “valid”.
 If any parameters need to be changed, reboot the MammoUnit after making
these changes, and then check to make sure that all parameters are set to “val‐
id”.
11. Restart the complete system.

2.2 Updating the MammoUnit firmware

Installing the MammoUnit firmware can be performed from the Service UI (Acquisition
System/ MammoUnit/ Update Firmware) or from the OS (logging in as meduser or admin‐
istrator would be suitable).
Because it is more common, the following describes installing the MammoUnit firmware
as administrator.

 If an error occurs, try to download the firmware again.

1. From the UI log off the user and log in as administrator.

 Password required!
 The UI shuts down, access to the OS is granted.
2. Insert the CD with the corresponding flashmaster “VXxxx.exe” file into the DVD drive.
 Each system version of the MAMMOMAT Inspiration includes a specific Mam‐
moUnit firmware version in combination with a WH AWS software version.
Combinations others than those released are not allowed.
3. Open Windows Explorer and copy the flashmaster file from the CD into the folder C:
\AWS\MU_Firmware.
4. Double-click VXxxx.exe to run the flashmaster program from the path C:\AWS
\MU_Firmware.
 The program starts and a dialog is displayed on the computer monitor.
 The flashmaster program states the firmware version
 The corresponding IP address is displayed (default address is “192.168.0.100”)

 The stand display shows the configured IP address, MammoUnit firmware ver‐
sion, and the MammoUnit status, in this example shown with firmware VA00D.

5. Click the “Check” button first.

 Wait until “Please press start” is highlighted in the dialog .

6. When the MammoUnit is ready for download, click “Start” to initiate the firmware up‐
date for the CBS and CBA.

 The update starts and a progress bar is displayed to indicate that the update is
“Preparing...”.
 The complete update time is 5 to 10 minutes.

7. When the update is finished, a dialog is displayed confirming that the update was suc‐
cessful. Click “OK” to close the program.
 The MammoUnit will restart itself once the update is completed.
