MESSAGE
My warmest greetings and congratulations to the
foremost champions of this momentous occasion—the
completers and graduates of School Year 2018 - 2019!
Graduation and moving-up ceremonies are indeed a
joyous celebration, and not only because it culminates another
year of learning and discovery, perseverance,and passionate
work among our learners. It also caps off another year of
successful collaboration among parents, teachers, education
officials and personnel, community members, partners, and
stakeholders of diverse roots, cultures, and traditions.
This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for All,” speaks of our
commitment and loyalty to our culture—diverse as it is—that reflects our soul and unites
our people. Time and again, we have proven that regardless of our descent, status,
ethnicity, and religious and political beliefs, we can unite towards the realization of a
common goal—the delivery of quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education
for the Filipino learners.
While the Department of Education (DepEd) has carried on and embraced
change amid technological advancements and the continuously shifting socioeconomic
landscape, it commits itself to the holistic development of 21st century learners who are
not only critical and innovative thinkers in the fields of science, mathematics, and robotics,
but who are also artistic and creative, and can thrive in the fields that appeal to our soul
and our sense of identity.
Rest assured that through the K to 12 Basic Education Program, DepEd shall strive
to hone our future leaders and nation-builders in a society that embraces diversity and all
its challenges and advantages. I am positive that whatever path they wish to pursue
hereafter, our graduates and completers will continuously enrich what makes up the
Filipino soul—our culture, talent, history, and capacity to survive.

Graduation is always an interesting phase of one’s life. This is the
moment when families celebrate the success of young family members in
their quest for a better life to which only education can give the answer. It
marks the reaping of sweet fruits of long years of painstaking work,
countless assignments and projects, never ending tests, mind boggling
discussions, and the like. It is not an end but a beginning, a start of another
journey in one’s life. It is indeed an occasion of joy.
I extend my warm congratulations to the completers and graduates
of 2019. Your graduation is a success that gives us all a reason to
celebrate. It is an achievement not only by yourselves and your families
but also the fulfillment of the Department of Education, Schools Division of
Borongan City’s mission and vision in transforming lives by producing quality and
competent individuals who possess the necessary knowledge, skills and values
which will serve as your weapons in facing the next ladder of your educational and professional endeavor.
As you pursue your dreams, you will reach the summit of hopes and aspirations. But some
will stumble by the way side, get lost, or fall off dangerous cliffs of wrong decisions and missed
opportunities. You must desire, discover and experience the essential things that will ease
and accelerate your climb up this mountain of life. You may forget your location, but always bear in
mind your direction!
These 2019 ceremonies shall focus on the theme “Pagkakaisa sa Pagkakaiba-iba: Kalidad na
Edukasyon para sa Lahat (Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for All)” which reminds us that
whatever differences, challenges, obstacles, problems, hindrances, and calamities which come our way,
we always combat them, standing in unity, ready to face the future.
As you leave the portals of your Alma Mater, take with you the life-long skills that you
acquired and developed. Keep in mind that with the education you earned, you can be what you want to
be. Don’t forget to take with you the lessons of the past. Learn from them and be wiser at every good
and bad experience.
