AS REP Top 10 FAQ

1. What does AS REP do?


Our office works to provide students resources and information about voting,
community involvement and local politics. We work at a local level with
Western’s government as well as city, state and national levels, too! We run
campus groups like Western Votes, Western Elections and Western
Committees.

2. Where are you located?


Our office is located in VU 435 across from the AS Review newsroom.

3. How do I get involved?


Contact any of our specific officers through the contact info listed on our home
page (as.wwu.edu/rep/). Feel free to drop by our office during office hours 9-5
to talk to us in person as well.

4. Why do we think this kind of work is important?


We help plan and run events and groups like these to get more students
involved within their communities and with their local government.

Knowing what’s going on in your community and recognizing what is in your


power to change is an important part of being an engaged citizen, and we want
you to know the influence your voice has.

5. How big is your staff and how fast do you respond to questions?
We currently have six employees and at this time of the quarter with student
elections going on, one of us is always in our office at during regular business
hours! We are great at helping in person and respond to our emails as soon as

6. What kind of outreach do you do off campus?


One of the off campus activities we plan is a trip to Olympia for student
lobbying. This is a great way for us to get involved with our government in a
broader way, and it allows us to talk to other university students, too.

7. What is Western Votes?


Western Votes is a run by students and advocates for students and other young
people to vote. It provides education about voting, voter registration
information and plans protests and lobbying events for students.

8. Where can I register to vote?


You can register on our website! We provide an easy access button that links
you to a voter registration page here

Same thing goes for committees! If you’re interested in getting more hands on
experience in local government, apply to join a committee today here

9. Why should I vote in student elections?


Student elections are the most localized form of government you can
participate in here at Western.

Student government employees are who work to make sure your voices and
ideas are represented to faculty members. They work to make Western a better,
safer and more inclusive place to attend, and they represent the entire student
body on their behalf.

10. How do I vote in student elections?


We’re so excited you want to get involved with voting! All the information
you’ll need about current candidates, the voting process and access to ballots is
