Dear Friends & Colleagues,

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP is pleased to invite you at the release of the report on
'Scaling up Rooftop Solar in the SME sector in India', being organised in association with
Climate Investment Funds (CIF), housed within the World Bank, on 3rd April (Wednesday),
2019.

About the Report

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF), through its Clean Technology Fund (CTF), has funded
USD 775 million to help India achieve its low carbon goals. Of this, USD 300 million has been
dedicated to support rooftop solar through the World Bank (via State Bank of India) and Asian
Development Bank (via Punjab National Bank). The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) instituted
a study- “Scaling up rooftop solar in the SME sector in India”, with an objective to map key
barriers impacting growth of rooftop solar in SME sector and identify potential solutions to
address those barriers. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, leveraging its vast experience and
understanding of rooftop solar and SME space, supported CIF in carrying out this study.

The study report identifies the key barriers impacting growth of rooftop solar in SME sector and
provides recommendation on the potential solutions. The study report, while taking cognisance
of prevailing policy and regulatory framework of rooftop solar and financing MSME sector in
India, recommends appropriate financial instruments/ framework to enhance access to finance
and scale up of rooftop solar in the SME sector in the country. During the course of the study,
Deloitte India undertook a survey of 150 SME units across six SME clusters covering
Ahmedabad (Pharmaceuticals), Chennai (Paper and Paper Products), Gurugram (Auto-
Components), Hyderabad (Plastics), Jaipur (Food Products and Processing), and Thane
(Textiles).

The report-launching event aims to present the key findings of the report and solicit insights
