Women are in charge of their bodies and know what is best for them. ​Abortion

should be kept legal because it lets women choose what is best for them and fewer children will be neglected or unwanted. ​Some people fight for
women’s rights to abortion while other people are fighting for the rights of unborn children. People who are against abortion are “pro-life” and
believe that abortion is murder and that the killing of an innocent being is wrong. However, removing abortion is removing women’s fundamental
rights that are stated in the Constitution .. “this right of privacy... is broad enough to encompass a woman's decision whether or not to terminate her
pregnancy”.

First of all, women are in charge of their own bodies and only they know what is best for them. Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day
O’Connor said: “The ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to
control their reproductive lives”. This means that allowing women to choose is empowering and it allows them to decide if they want to spend the
rest of their life with a child or not. Having a child will affect their futures and some women do not want a child to be a part of it.

Secondly, abortion helps prevent the number of unwanted kids. As said in the procon article, “a baby should not come into the world
unwanted”. Some women are not ready to have a child or are victims of sexual abuse and taking away their rights to abortion won’t be good for the
woman or the baby. Having a baby requires you to be financially stable and employed and not all women have that so this will cause stress on the
mother and the baby will not be raised with its expensive needs. A baby could also remind a woman of bad memories and will neglect or will not
love her baby as every mother should. A child should be loved by their mother, not ignored or abandoned. If laws are created to prevent abortion
then there will be many more children who will be raised without love and care from their mom.

While I am for abortion, there are many other people who are against it. Abortion is the murder of an innocent human being and they have
human rights just like everyone else. However, the fetus does not feel any pain during the process because abortions are usually done early in the
pregnancy. The study by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated that there is "no legitimate scientific information that
supports the statement that a fetus experiences pain." Also, if legal abortion is banned then more illegal abortions will occur. Illegal abortions are
terminations of pregnancy that are done by inexperienced people and are very unsafe. If an illegal abortion is done then it could possibly kill the
mother in the process.

Abortion is a fundamental right and it should not be banned. Abortion helps reduce the number of neglected children and it lets women decide
what is best for them. If abortion is banned then women’s rights will be taken away and their opportunity to choose what is best for them will not be
there anymore. It is best to keep abortion legal so women can have options. If you are against it then just choose not to do it and let other people
choose for themselves.
