 CHAPTER-1

1.1.Introduction to Android

Android is a Linux based operating system it is designed primarily for touch screen mobile
devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. The operating system has developed a lot in
last 15 years starting from black and white phones to recent smart phones or mini computers.
One of the most widely used mobile OS these days is android. The android is software that was
founded in Palo Alto of California in 2003. Android is a powerful operating system and it
supports large number of applications in Smart phones. These applications are more comfortable
and advanced for the users. The hardware that supports android software is based on ARM
architecture platform. The android is an open source operating system means that it’s free and
any one can use it. The android has got millions of apps available that can help you managing
your life one or other way and it is available low cost in market at that reasons android is very
popular.

The android development supports with the full java programming language. Even other
packages that are API and JSE are not supported. The first version 1.0 of android development
kit (SDK) was released in 2008 and latest updated version is jelly bean.
 Android Architecture:

The android is an operating system and is a stack of software components which is divided into
five sections and four main layers that is:

 Linux kernel

 Libraries

 Android runtime

 Application frame work

 Android Architecture

Linux kernel:

The android uses the powerful Linux kernel and it supports wide range of hardware drivers. The
kernel is the heart of the operating system that manages input and output requests from software.
This provides basic system functionalities like process management, memory management,
device management like camera, keypad, display etc the kernel handles all the things. The Linux
is really good at networking and it is not necessary to interface it to the peripheral hardware. The
kernel itself does not interact directly with the user but rather interacts with the shell and other
programs as well as with the hard ware devices on the system.

Libraries:

The on top of a Linux kennel there is a set of libraries including open source web browser such
as web kit, library libc. These libraries are used to play and record audio and video. The SQLite
is a data base which is useful for storage and sharing of application data. The SSL libraries are
responsible for internet security etc.

Android Runtime:

The android runtime provides a key component called Dalvik Virtual Machine which is a kind of
java virtual machine. It is specially designed and optimized for android. The Dalvik VM is the
process virtual machine in the android operating system. It is software that runs apps on android
devices.
Application frame work

The application frame work layer provides many higher level services to applications such as
windows manager, view system, package manager, resource manager etc. The application
developers are allowed to make use of these services in their application.

1.2. Reason for Selection of Android Language:

You will find all the android applications at the top layer and you will write your application and
install on this layer. Examples of such applications are contacts, books, browsers, services etc.
Each application performs a different role in the overall applications.

2.1 PROJECT TITLE: BSNL administration and customer care service

In a world state of affairs, like faculty field, the information is inside the kind of notice, hand-
written manual, verbal message, is being unfold among the students. Currently it's of the essence
to not entirely use the predictable varieties of statement, but together new forms like phone
technology, for faster and easier communication among the employess. The core set up of this
project is to implement automaton based application for advancement. Throughout this paper we
have a tendency to tend to develop degree application that provided information like Customer
details, staff and attendance, notices and conjointly the department details. Here we have a
tendency to tend to together use Authentication, simply the once passwords (OTP) play a major
role for authentication and accustomed provide higher layer of security. We have a tendency to
tend to together propose the notification that send notification of recent activity to the students,
employees or box whether or not or not they unit of measurement on-line.

The main objective of the Android based app is to manage the details of Employee, Customer,
Recharge, Time Session. It manages all the information about Employee, Customer, Session. The
project is totally built at administrative end and thus only the administrator is guaranteed the
access. The purpose of the project is to build an application program to reduce the manual work
for managing the Exchange, Faculty, Customer..
2.2 Existing System Study

Traditional approach utilized in Department where Exchanges use bulletin board to share any
information. And Clerk dictates the notes before of any detail. This methodology is time intense
for teacher and students. Simply just in case any imperative notices by higher management like
box or Head take time to attain everyone. Some time few Employees out of
Office premises so as that they don’t get that imperativenotices. This can be creating some draw
back there to Employees.

Existing System Disadvantages:

1. Existing System is not efficient because sometimes it is time consuming.

2. Existing system fails in case of any emergency to Staff and Customer.
3. Staff communicates with Customer face to face.
4. Lots of Paper work.
2.2.New Design of Model:

Administration can add new record of staff. Administration are those people which are
recognized by higher level authorities. They can new record of customer and set their record.
Administration can set plus points to staff which are useful for incentive and set employee
personal detail like retairement period and nomiee’s detail. Create sub admins and view
employee personal detail. Administration can also update customer and employee detail.
Administration can also set employee salary. Administration can view salary details.
Administration are responsible for salary setup. Administration are also responsible for making
new recharges. Administration can transfer customer complaints for one employee to another
employee.

Sub-admins are responsile for Solving complaints and update Complaint status.
Employee can check their salary status and view personal record and update their record.
Employee can change their password

Customer can create their account for creating account customer have to select the region and
entered their details like previous mobile number or landline number for any email customer can
also update their record customer care also book a complaint and check their complaint status
and create password and also update their password
