TERMINAL 3, IGI AIRPORT
NEW DELHI, INDIA
One of the prime infrastructural projects in New Delhi, the new
TERMINAL 3 (T3) at the INDIRA GANDHI INTERNATIONAL (IGI)
AIRPORT is designed with many unique landscape features.
Odyssey was awarded the Hardscape and Water Features work
for this iconic project.

HARDSCAPE
The Scope of Work under Hardscape included 858 Movable
Planter Boxes, 750 RMT of Fixed Planters in Steel Grey Granite, a
Landscape Deck and Planter Benches.

The Movable Planter Boxes are completely self-sufficient and drip-

free, equipped with a HDPE tray, Pond Liner and a slotted
Galvanized Mild Steel (GMS) Framework. The GMS framework was
clad with Steel Grey Granite, Sapphire Brown Granite and Tan
Brown Granite. The slotted framework enabled flexibility with the
height of the plants and planters placed inside the boxes by
moving the HDPE trays up or down. The Pond Liner ensured that
the water and mud does not drip out onto the floor. Each planter
box weighs between 120 and 450 KGs and can be moved easily
with the help of a forklift.

The Fixed Planters are low height plant enclosures with a

and Steel Grey Granite.

The landscape deck is the green area, with benches and large
planters meant for relaxation in the middle of the airport.

The majestic monument for the Bio-diversity park, built on the

Gachibowli-Mehdipatnam Road, has become a landmark in
Hyderabad as an artistic expression of the great mystery of life on
earth and its creation. Architecturally, it depicts solid, liquid and
gaseous forms.

Odyssey was invited to collaborate on this prestigious project by

RING OF AIR
It is the outer most part of ring with a diameter of 108 feet,
represented by 12 trees. The number 12 has been arrived at by
multiplying 4 (Cardinal Directions) and 3 types of (wind). There
are12 pedestals along the ring that represent 12 hours of the day.
On the Stair skirting are engraved names of 193 countries on
polished black granite.

RING OF EARTH
The park has an ambulatory path engraved with 191
classifications of the Tree of Life. The circumference of the path is
224 feet while its width is 6 feet and has been symbolically
proportioned to human height. The pathway has a Black Granite
surface in Antique finish with 2 mm deep engravings of names of
all 191 species.

RING OF FIRE
The fire here is symbolized by Sun with radiating lines in the colors
of fire, made up of Black Granite base and sun rays in Red Granite
and Jaisalmer Yellow Stone.

MURAL WALL
A transition wall slopes down in between the Ring of Fire and the
Ring of Water. This mural wall is divided into three zones depicting
the three aspects of Bio-diversity, System (Prakruthi), Species
(Prani) and Structure (Antarlaya). We installed 90 pieces of 30 mm
thick Etah Gold Stone in taper. These pieces were shot blasted,
hand polished and engraved with different finishes.

RING OF WATER
This is a water bowl signifying incubator of life with a floating map
of the world without any political boundaries. Water jet
technology was used to cut world map shape in 30 mm thick
stone.

RING OF ETHER
The fifth element is represented by a fan like structure with empty
space between the fins. This structure is made of two levels. The
upper level is made of 17 pieces of engraved 30 mm thick Etah

integral to any part of design. Not only does it add meaning and
substance to a project, but it also helps to convey the aesthetic
sense of the owner to the world.

By collaborating with nationally and internationally acclaimed

architects and designers, Odyssey products have found their way
to be a part of exciting projects all over the world including murals

In recent times, bathrooms have acquired the status of a ‘haven’

of sorts. Monolithic stone tubs and basins carved out of blocks of
stones, opulent mosaic carpets, psychedelic inlays, gold-leafed
murals, crystal basins, gemstone bathtubs and inlayed ceilings
are some of the bathroom whims that we have catered to.

Quality and finish are of course a given. We seal-protect every

installation in the bathroom to protect it from water seepages,
ensuring that your haven continues to be in pristine condition.

Since time immemorial, architecture has always utilized Natural

Stone. Infact, it has been the foremost choice for building
frontages and façades. It brings with it timeless appeal, limitless
possibilities and extremely low maintenance over time.

The design team at Odyssey offers several façade-cladding

options that can be customized to suit the project requirements or
options can be chosen from our existing collections (CROSTA and

Odyssey also has a highly-skilled dry cladding and wet cladding

installation team to install the stone panels and helps to realize the

HARDSCAPE

Hardscape, also called hard landscaping, encompasses all the

non-plant design elements of the landscaped area. All the
cobbled walkways, walls, patios, fences, water bodies,
sculptures, planters, and rocks constitute the hardscape.
Hardscaping represents the foundation and forms the anchor of
landscaping plans.

With our deep understanding of natural materials, their limitations

and usability, Odyssey undertakes various types of Hardscape
Design and Hardscape Contracts. Our Hardscape Design Team
consists of Landscape Architects, MEP consultants, Lighting

Marble, Travertine, Onyx, Slate, Sandstone and Granite can be

used for internal application, that ranges from elaborate
pietradura, mosaics and inlays to rustic limestone and slate
interiors.

The stonework for interiors is recommended, keeping in mind the

budget, aesthetics and the project conditions. We discuss and
understand the intent of the designer and then accordingly
propose the areas to be highlighted and the technique(s) that
can be used in highlighting them.

ARCHITECTURE
MASONRY

The craft of stone masonry has existed since the dawn of

civilization. Before steel and concrete, stone was used as the
building block for any construction and has been used to build
several monuments, temples and cities, in many of cultures.

Stone can be used as an architectural element and not just as a

decorative element. Solid stone pillars, boundary walls, retaining
walls, pylons using solid stone blocks add volume and character
to any project.

CROSTA (CROSTA - Italian, derived from Latin Crusta meaning Crust
signifies Surface or Skin.)

Odyssey launched its first collection of façade and vertical

surfaces, CROSTA, in February 2012.

Developed in-house, the collection used primarily Indian

Sandstone and Granite, and is manufactured with the help of
CNC Milling and Water-Jet techniques. This multi-dimensional
stone collection has been designed, keeping in mind the
dynamic play of shadows on stone.

The patterns and materials that are selected for the collection
help in bringing out the beauty of the stone dimensionality and
aid in enhancing the interior and/or exterior of any built form.

(KINETIC – derived from the Greek word κίνησις (kinesis),
meaning motion.) KINETIC
Through the Kinetic Collection, Odyssey explores 'energy in
motion'. Each pattern in the collection appears to be moving
and provides the surface with a three-dimensional effect.

The play-act of shadows on stone, coupled with an appearance

of movement, adds life to the expression of natural stone and
creates a collection of one-of-a-kind surfaces.

Each panel of this collection can be adjusted in proportions, to

create a stunning facade, a mural or a feature wall.

BREATHING Breathing surfaces add a completely new dimension, quite
literally, to the "Jaali" work. Inspired by designing from nature-

SURFACES
Parametric Design, Nervous System of Leaves, Natural Fossils, and
Architectural Forms, the panels can be modified with multiple
options of inlay/overlay with Shellstone/Gemstones and Semi-
Precious Metals.
These surfaces can be used as architectural partitions, façade
coverings, exterior/ interior screens and can be customised to suit
specific requirements.
