ASP Network Test SOP V2.

Instructions
Carefully follow the steps outlined in this SOP to complete the network
test for your site. The testing should be run during regular business
hours.

1. Requirements
1.1. Mac running macOS 10.12.3 or higher.
1.2. High-speed internet connection (Ethernet).
Cellular/hotspot/4G/LTE connections are not permitted.

2. Network Requirements
2.1. No firewalls or proxies should be used. Isolated LANs that cannot
connect to the Internet will not work.
2.2. Outbound ICMP must be allowed by all firewalls.
2.3. Ports 80 and 443 must be accessible from the diagnostic LAN at
the service location, and should be whitelisted in content filtering
appliances in place on the network.

3. Mac Network Setup


3.1.  Disable Wi-Fi by clicking on the Wi-Fi menu bar item and selecting
Turn Wi-Fi Off.

3.2.  Connect Mac to the network with a built-in Ethernet port, with a
Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, or with a USB to Gigabit
Ethernet Adapter.
3.3.  Disable any antivirus software on the Mac, such as Norton
Security and McAfee.


3.4. Ensure that any firewalls on the Mac allow full internet access.

4. Mac System Setup


4.1. Disable Energy Saver

4.1.1. Open System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter


4.1.2. Check/enable “Prevent computer from sleeping


automatically when the display is off”.

4.1.3. Select Never on slide bar.


4.2. Disable Firewall
4.2.1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
4.2.2. Click Turn Off Firewall, and ensure that Firewall: Off is
displayed.

5. How to Run the Test


5.1. Save the testing package test6.zip onto the test Mac’s Desktop.
5.2. Double click test6.zip to unzip onto Desktop, this will create
folder 'test6'
5.3. Open the Terminal application from /Applications/Utilities folder.
5.4. In Terminal, type ~/Desktop/test6/test.py
5.5. Hit the Return key.
5.6. Enter your Country, Ship-To Number, and site contact email
address when prompted.

5.7. Check script progress after first 90 minutes of run time, make sure
still running.
5.8. Wait for script to finish, up to 24 hours.

5.9. When finished, navigate to test6 folder on the Desktop. Copy the
two files: log.txt and results.txt into a new email. Add your Ship-To
Number and Ship-To Name in the subject of the email. email to
nt_amr_cso@apple.com and copy your Apple account manager.
