Lesson Plan in Science 7 (QUARTER 4)

Time Frame: 50 minutes


Date: January 22, 2019

I. OBJECTIVE/S:
- At the end of the lesson, at least 80% of the students are expected to:
a) Describe the location of the Philippines with respect to the surrounding land
masses and bodies of water.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


a. Topic: “Landmasses and Bodies of water”

b. Learning Competency:
- Describe the Philippines with respect to landmasses of waters S7ES-IVa-2

c. Reference: Learners’ Manual (pages 87-89)

d. Skills: Describing, Locating

e. Materials:
Pictures
World Map
Globe

f. Values Integration:
- Manage thoroughly the Natural Resources pertaining to its latitude/longitudinal
position.

III. LEARNING PROCEDURES:

a. PREPRATORY ACTIVITY:
 Opening Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of attendance
 Review of the previous lesson
- About Latitude and Longitude

b. MOTIVATION:
- At this portion, students will be given a set of cities in order for
them to find its Latitude and Longitude;
THAILAND, CAMBODIA, NEW MEXICO and SINGAPORE

c. LESSON PROPER:

1. ACTIVITY: (Group Activity)


The teacher will start the discussion by letting the students answer the Activity 2
– “Where in the world is the Philippines?” (LMM; pp. 84-85)

What to do?

1. Using a globe or world map as reference, label the following Landmasses and
Bodies of Water:
A. LANDMASSES B. BODIES OF WATER
Philippine Archipelago Philippine Sea
Asian continent South China Sea
Malay Peninsula Indian Ocean
Indonesian Archipelago
Australian Continent

2. ANALYSIS:
- Students will be having a brainstorming pertaining on the activity.
- Students will now answer the following guide questions:
Q1. Which bodies of water are found to the west of the Philippines?
Q2. Which bodies of water are found to the east of the Philippines?
Q3. Which large landmass is found to the north of the Philippines?
Q4. Why is the Philippines called an Archipelago?

3. ABSTRACTION: (Lecture time – Teacher’s Input)


Guide Questions:
a. What do you think is the use of knowing where the Philippines is located?
b. Are we lucky in the Philippines?
c. What comes in your mind, when we say, “Natural resources”?
d. Can you give some examples?

4. APPLICATION: In a form of group of activities –“DIFFERENTIATED


INSTRUCTIONS”

There will be 5 groups and each group will describe the location of the Philippines
through presentations like a song, dance, poem, and drama.

IV. ASSIGNMENT (1/2 Sheet of paper)

- Identify some of our land and water resources here in the Philippines with their
Latitude and Longitude.

*Can you elaborate the purposes of water?
c. LESSON PROPER:
1. ACTIVITY: (Individual Activity)
The teacher will start the discussion by showing a 3-5 minutes video clip on the
topic:
*WATER RESOURCES AND BIODIVERSITY*

2. ANALYSIS: (Group Activity)


- Each must brainstorm on the video presentation. Then, try to figure out the
following queries:

 Why is it necessary to know the importance of water?


 Do you think, we need to conserve water? Why?

3. ABSTRACTION (Teacher’s Input)


- Today, we are going to explore the; Water resources and Biodiversity.

Guide Questions:
1. What is your association with too much rainfall?
2. Where does water in your community came from?
3. What is a watershed?
4. Are we lucky in the Philippines for having many watersheds?
5. Can you give some examples?

- Teacher, will now present pictures about the sources of water and some of its location
in the Philippines.

4. APPLICATION:

- Students will be making a concept map out of the following words, then, they will give
a corresponding statement that will link/support to their answers.

- At the end of the lesson, at least 75% of the students are expected to:
a. Trace the formation of soil from rocks
b. Identify the significant factors acting together on rocks to form soil.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


A. Topic: “Soil Resources, Rainfall and Temperature”

B. Learning Competency:
- Tracing the formation of soil from rocks with respect to the factors acting to it.

Q2. What does the following statement mean, “Soil were once rocks”?

Q3. Are you agree with these? Defend your answer?

d. What is a climate? What comprises climate?
e. What do rainfall determines?

- In a ½ sheet of paper, answer the following questions:

1. Aside from water resources, this is also an important resource in any country?

2. What covers the earth, aside from water?

3. It controls how fast chemical reactions occur?

4. These are significant factors that expressed in forming the soil?

Notebook only.

- Search in a Philippine map those regions which are abundant in Soil Resources.

- Also, provide its latitude and longitude of that certain area.
