Guilty when you fail—Succeed! Work too hard—Take time off!
Took God’s name in vain—Betrayed friend—Love Jesus/Spouse/Porn!

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.

there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.

Most horrible form death—Physically/Spiritually—Curse.

First came Scourging—Glass or Nails—Lose blood—State of Shock.


Stripped naked—Hang in shame!

Nailed to cross—Spikes approx. 7 inches


Asphyxiation—Pure Exhaustion.

Could take days to die—Break legs was consider act of mercy.

As people gathered and mocked Jesus—Cursed at him—Spit on him!


Prayed—Father—Forgiven them!

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you
the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” Luke 23:39

Arrogant—Prideful—No fear of God—No need for a Savior.

But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said,
“since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we
are getting what our deeds deserve. Luke 23:40-41

Public ministry—Lasted 3 years

Jesus tempted 3 times—Satan in desert.


12 Disciples—3 in inner circle—Peter, James, John.
Witnessed Jesus at Transfiguration—Prayed with Jesus in the Garden.

But on the 3rd day!

Stone rolled away—Tomb empty—Christ risen!

Jesus called: Way—Truth—Life—Today you will be me…

Feel guilty—Unworthy—Unlovable—Ashamed!

Doesn’t say—You get what you deserve!


Not here because I’m good—I’m here because he is good!

He [God] does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly
with us, as we deserve. 11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed
our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. Ps 103

Bad people good, dead people alive.

Mercy—We don’t get the bad we deserve.


Grace—We get good we don’t deserve.

Why do bad things happen to good people?


That only happened once—Jesus volunteered for it.

Grace—Getting the blessing/good you don’t deserve!
