AKRATHERM can be used wherever
thermal insulation, brightness and easy
installation are required.
It’s cellular structure means AKRATHERM
sheets may be heavily charged. On the
basis of the UV-protected high-quality
polycarbonate AKRATHERM is an ideal
building material with the following cha-
racteristics:
HIGH TRANSPARENCY: About 80%
transparency, depending on the thickness,
and excellent light diffusion. Due to the
special surface coating on the external
side the transparency remains practically
unchanged through time. The following
colours are available: transparent, opaline
and bronze; green and blue at request.
THERMAL INSULATION: The geometri-
cal structure of AKRATHERM sheets with
single chamber, or two,-three-or four-walled
cavity structure, combined with the low
heat transmission value of polycarbo-
nate, ensure a particularly high thermal
insulation (up to U = 1,4 W/m 2 K) and
therefore the best choice for energy saving.
PRACTICALLY UNBREAKABLE: AKRA-
THERM offers considerable impact
strength and a high resistance against
mechanical stress.
LIGHTNESS: AKRATHERM is particu-
larly light and weighs from 0,8 kg/m2 up
to 3,7 kg/m 2, depending on thickness.
HIGH WEATHER RESISTANCE: AKRA-
THERM is UV-protected and offers
weather resistance in temperatures
ranging from -40°C up to +120°C.
HARDLY FLAMMABLE: Conforming to
certificate P-ND S04-488 of the Institut
für Bautechnik in Berlin AKRATHERM
sheets are hardly flammable accor-
ding to DIN 4102 B1 and BS 476
Part 7 Class 1. Polycarbonate does not
emit toxic gases.
RESISTANCE TO CHEMICAL AGENTS:
Resistant against low concentrate mine-
ral and organic acids, detergents, soap
and salt solutions, fats and oils, aliphatic
hydrocarbons and alcohol. Not stabilized
against aromatic hydrocarbons and
strong alkali.
SHEET EXPANSION: 0,065 mm/m°K,
that means 3 mm (bronze 5 mm!) per metre
length in continental European climate.
PROCESSING POSSIBILITIES: The
sheet may be cold curved, sawed and
bored with common tools. It is light and
consequently easy and fast to erect.
ACCESSORIES: For the sealing of the open
hollow chambers U-profiles and/or adhesive
aluminium tape are used. For the jointing
of the polycarbonate sheets aluminium
and polycarbonate profiles are suitable.
APPLICATIONS AND USE: AKRA-
THERM cellular sheets offer constructive
possibilities in every imaginable surface.
Nowadays the requirements in the fields
of new building and clearance make
multi-wall sheets indispensable.
AKRATHERM is particularly suitable for
glazing and roofing of greenhouses,
schools, sport sites, agricultural and indu-
strial buildings, as well as vaulted and
projecting roofs, skylights, solar panels,
car washing-plants, applications in the
fields of leisure time and “do it yourself”.
