Chapter 1 Executive Summary

Dataware SDN BHD (Dataware) is pleased to propose the Disaster Recovery


Data Center (DRC) facilities with well-equipped infrastructure and support
services to YKK (Malaysia) SDN BHD (YKK) at Johor. Our goal is to provide
YKK with a Disaster Recovery Modeled Data Center infrastructure with full
facilities that address its immediate need of professional services to monitor and
backup of data.

We offer a scalable service to manage YKK business objectives and future data
growth. Besides that, with the broadband wireless implemented between YKK
and DRC, it will enhance the communication between YKK and Dataware’s DRC.

As data is getting more and more vulnerable, data protection is very important in
order to achieve each business objective. With our infrastructure that is complete
with facilities in terms of security, networking, communication and backup,
Dataware is confident to provide professional support services for data protection
to YKK in an optimal environment.

Chapter 2 Company Profile

About Dataware
DATAWARE SDN BHD is a member of CMG group of companies. CMG
Holdings (CMG) is a 100% owned Malaysian company; its subsidiaries consist

the revenue for R&D research every year. CMG is currently implementing CMMI
level 3 processes.

Technical Orientation

Dataware has a very strong technology-orientation. This includes the usage of


general purpose or custom-built tools, and the experimentation with new
techniques under controlled conditions to evolve and evaluate innovative ideas.

Dataware uses special tools and utilities appropriate for the requirements of each
project to improve the quality and productivity. If special purpose tools are built,
they also encapsulate the expertise of persons in an external form. It also
practices an assiduous error analysis, to provide for future use a preventive
mechanism comprising checklist, tools, and procedures. This has been proven
to be successful in minimizing recurrence of errors.

Dataware has repeatedly demonstrated its ability in adhering to aggressive


schedules of large projects. Dataware will augment the manpower to complete

Chapter 3 Disaster Recovery Center Facilities

Dataware’s DRC is completed with the facilities such as the infrastructures stated below and
professional engineering services will be offered as follows: -
The DRC’s design is clearly indicated in the floor plan provided in the Appendix A, “Disaster
Recovery Center Floor Plan Layout”.

3.1 Infrastructures

3.1.1 Raised Floor


The server room’s floor is designed to be a raised floor to protect all the hardware and
equipments from any disaster such as flood to occur.

3.1.2 Air-Conditioning
The server room is equipped with split air-conditioning. Two units of air-conditioner with automatic
switch function are used. With this facility, the servers will be able to perform in optimal
environment.

3.1.3 Fire Extinguisher


Fire extinguisher is equipped at the DRC for fire security purposes.

3.1.4 CCTV
CCTV is installed in the server room to monitor and observe any activities on the servers.

3.1.5 Access Card System


To access the DRC and the server room, access card system is implemented for security.

3.1.6 Smoke Detector


Smoke detector is installed upon detection of fire or smoke.

3.1.7 UPS System & Generator set


UPS system is employed in the DRC. The TNB power passes through the inverter – converter of
the UPS system and output of the UPS system supplies power to the computer facility. This
isolates the facility from utility transients and outages. Complete protection is provided from
power surges, outages, voltage fluctuations, power frequency fluctuations and loss of utility power.
If the outage is for an extended period, a Generator set will be activated to continue to support
servers and equipments in DRC.

3.1.8 Alarm System


The alarm system is implemented in the DRC for alert purposes upon any break-in or security
breaches.

3.1.9 Motorola Canopy Broadband Wireless


Installation and implementation of this is to enhance the communication between YKK and DRC
in Menara MAA. This solution offer reliable and secure, high-speed connectivity with lower total
cost of acquisition and operation compared to leased line, T1/E1 lines and similar wireless access
solutions.

3.1.10 Telephone and Internet Services


Internet and calls services are enabled with Broadband Streamyx and telephone lines installed
throughout the DRC.

3.1.11 Networking Services


The DRC is well equipped with all the necessary network points for networking purposes.

3.2 Services Offered

CMG helps YKK to establish regularly scheduled system backups. CMG propose the following
recommendation as guideline:-

Provide 24 X 7 operation support


By providing this 24X7 operation support, support will be provided by Dataware in two
approaches. For the primary approach, YKK could reach our on-site engineer for any issues on
the data or storage from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm only on weekdays. As for the secondary approach,
reach out for our support officers at our very own Help Desk located at the head quarter in Kuala
Lumpur only from 8.30am to 5.30 pm as well. Upon on support needs during other time slot or
weekends, YKK is encouraged to call our engineer’s mobile to reach out for assistance or
supports. The response time by our engineer to YKK would be 1 hour. With this 24X7 support, we
strongly believe full support can be provided to YKK in an effective way.

Engineer Standby
CMG located our engineer at the DRC in Menara MAA, Johor. The engineer will be performing a
daily incremental backup of data. The backup media will be stored at our fire safe cabinet in DRC.
Furthermore, our engineer will be doing all the monitoring and observing tasks on the server,
storage and network. This is to ensure smooth and complete backup is taking place everyday.
Nevertheless, the engineer will always maintain and ensure that all the facilities are in good
condition and perform well. The facilities must be able to perform in an optimal environment. With
this routine activity, we can ensure YKK on full protection from data loss due to damaged
equipment, software upgrades, viruses, user mistakes, hackers and theft. Last but not least,
Dataware suggest a monthly technical meeting with YKK. The purpose of the meeting is to solve
any pending issues and to discuss on any recommendation and ways to enhance the
performance of the DRC.

Warm Disaster Recovery Strategy


YKK DRP Policy is to ensure business continuity by protecting the data capturing on a mission-
critical server. For each primary server (any server with data that YKK want to protect), will set up
a protection task at YKK office. YKK will also require setup the secondary server to hold a
replicated set of this data at our DRC site at Menara MAA, Johor.

Dataware’s Warm Disaster Recovery Strategy


Dataware will ensure real-time transaction based mirroring, whereby changes in primary server
are immediately replicated to secondary server. This strategy will allow single data changes,
either small or large, immediately replicate / transfer to the secondary server, when detected by
primary servers.

Creating a Disaster Recovery Test Plan: -


1. Create a set of DRP documentation.
2. Set up a test server both at DRP site and YKK office.
3. Simulate a recovery on test servers.
4. Perform Disaster Recovery Test plan on yearly basic.
5. Submit weekly backup report to YKK via Email.
6. Backup all DRP data to tape.
7. Backup tape will be kept in fire safe cabinet.

Dataware’s DRP Server Health Check Strategy: -


1. Perform a regular Operating System patches and backup application patches to DRP
machines.
2. Ensure all DRP hardware is updated with latest firmware.

3.3 Scopes not within the services

YKK (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is responsible to sign up any software or application


maintenance with its principal.

Chapter 4 Commercial

4.1 Price Schedule

Yearly Services Fee = RM 96, 000.00 per annum

**All government services and sales tax are to be borne by YKK (Malaysia)
Sdn Bhd

4.2 Payment Terms

1. 100% Payment - Yearly in Advance.


2. Payment is 30 days from the date of the Invoice.
3. Contract validity: 2 years.

6.1 Dataware experience in giving consultancy services and setting up Data


center and Data Recovery Center
6.1.1 Pharmaniaga Bhd
Involve in setting up a comprehensive Data Center (DC) at Pharmaniaga Head Quarter
at Bukit Raja, Klang.
Job Scopes:
1. Provide consultancy services for DC set up. Access the machine specifications to
ensure proper power rating requirement that meet the international standard DC
regulation.
2. Certified safety standard to ensure DC set up is in accordingly to Bomba’s
requirements.
3. Access to system and application level to ensure the performance of system is in
according to optimum operation requirements.
4. Provide networking consultancy services for DC.
5. Design and set up a redundant network for DC to ensure minimum down time
with uptime expectation of 99%.
6. Design redundant leasing line routing on DNS facility.
7. Provide consultancy on backup and restore procedures.
8. Design and set up full clustering IBM HACMP solution for critical backend
application.
9. Provide maintenance support for system at DC.
Setting up a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for Pharmaniaga Bhd at Cyberjaya,
Century Square.
1. Provide consultancy services for DRC set up. Access the machine specifications
to ensure proper power rating requirement that meet the international standard
DRC regulation.

requirements.
3. Provide system support for DRC applications. Setting up the DRC machines that
follows international DRC standard.

6.1.2 Domino’s Pizza Malaysia
Domino’s Pizza, the largest Pizza Chain in the world with more than 6000 stores
worldwide; has 40 stores operate in Malaysia and the number is growing.
CMG set up DC for Domino’s Pizza Malaysia to house their mission critical Order Taking
System and Core Backend System. CMG also provides consultancy services, helpdesk,
comprehensive IT support and MIS solutions for Domino’s Pizza Malaysia since year
1998.
6.1.2 Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ)
Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) is currently using Dataware’s DRC facilities in Menara MAA,
Johor to support its mission critical applications which includes Financial & Billing system.
SAJ also have a comprehensive backup solution for its workgroup servers such as mail,
exchange, JMS….and other servers.
CMG provides consultancy and services to access into SAJ current system environment.
We provide them with technical advice and suggestion for comprehensive system
backup solutions.
CMG also provides DRP for SAJ. The fundamental requirements of DRC and required
facilities are being deployed at Menara MAA, Johor. System replication exercise and
operation procedures were also implemented for SAJ. Currently, our DRC
communicates with SAJ HQ using a proven wireless facility with 20 Mbps wireless speed.
6.1.4 Ranhill Berhad
Ranhill Berhad (Ranhill) subsidiaries which include Ranhill Water Services Sdn Bhd
(RWS), Ranhill Construction and Engineering Sdn Bhd (REC) and Ranhill SENAI-
DESARU Highway project is currently using Dataware’s DRC facilities in Menara MAA,
Johor to support its mission critical data.
CMG provides consultancy and services to access into Ranhill’s current system
environment. We provide them with technical advice and suggestion for comprehensive
system backup solutions.

CMG also provides cold and warm disaster recovery strategy and services. The
fundamental requirements of DRC and required facilities are being deployed at Menara
MAA, Johor. System replication exercise and operation procedures were also
implemented for Ranhill. Currently, our DRC communicates with REC and RWS were
using a proven wireless facility with 20 Mbps wireless speed.
