Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans

All proceeds from the 2010 Cantigny 5K Run/Walk will benefit
the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The Midwest Shelter
for Homeless Veterans is a not-for-profit transitional living facility
that provides assistance to U.S. veterans of any era for

The 5K Course
The 5K course is USATF (#IL-04078-JW) certified entirely on
Cantigny grounds and a blacktop surface. The race starts
at the Visitors Center and proceeds out onto the rolling hills
of the Cantigny Golf course and back to the Visitors Center.
Participants will run past the 1st Division Museum, the Robert
R. McCormick Museum, and finish by running through
Cantigny Gardens to the Visitors Center. The portion on the
golf course will be run on the cart paths. Digital clocks or
timers will be located at mile markers. Water stations will be
set up at the half way mark and at the start/finish line.
Registration Fees
5K Run/Walk (800 Maximum Registration)................ $25.00
Youth (6-10 years) and Tot Run (1-5 years) .............. $10.00
There is a $5.00 discount to active duty military that
presents their ID. No Refunds will be given. All proceeds
benefit Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.
Registration
5K Run/Walk race participants are limited to the first 800
entries. On-line registration is available at www.signmeup.
com. To register by mail, complete the registration form and
mail it to the address on the form, postmarked no later than
Friday, October 29, 2010. You may fax the completed form to
630 260 8160. On-line and faxed registrations will be accepted
as long as the registration limit (800) has not been reached
or until Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 4:00 pm. Once the
limit of 800 registrations has been met, registration will close.
There will be no race day registration.

Youth run and youth awards followed by tot run and tot awards
Early Packet Pick-up
Registration packets may be picked up from the Visitors Center,
located at Cantigny, on Friday November 5, 2010. From 10:00
am until 6:00 pm to avoid the crowds the morning of the race.
Your timing chip will be available the day of the event after you
have received your bib number. The parking fee will be waived
for registered participants picking up their packets.
Race Results
All participants in the 5K and in the Youth Run will be chipped
timed by Mattoon Multisport and given the opportunity to
review their results, as they come in, at various locations on
the property. Results will include finish time, pace, overall
finish position, age and division place. The Tot Run will
not be chipped timed. Final results will be posted at www.
mattoonmultisport.com, www.mychicagoathlete.com, www.
cararuns.org and www.cantigny.org.
Awards Ceremony
At approximately 9:45 am, outside the Visitors Center, near
the finish line, the awards and prizes will be presented to
the top three male and female overall finishers. Following
the ceremony, awards for the top three male and female
finishers in each five-year age group will be available for
pick-up at the awards table. The top three male and female
overall finishers will not be eligible in the five-year age groups.
The age groups are as follows: 1-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29,
30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64. 65-69 and
70+. The top three male and female overall finishers for the
youth and tot runs will also receive an award immediately
following the end of the race. Awards will be given only to
registered runners with a valid registration bib. The official
race results provided by Mattoon Multisport will be used for
overall and age group rankings.
Youth and Tot Runs
The Youth Run is for children ages 6 to 10 and the Tot Run
is for children ages 1 to 5. Races will start following the 5K
Run/Walk award ceremony. Youth Run is 1-mile in length and
the Tot Run is 1/4-mile. Only the Youth Run will be chipped
timed. Registration for the Youth and Tot Run will close when
the 5K Run/Walk registration closes.
Parking & Facilities
Ample free parking for race participants and volunteers is
available close to the Visitors Center so participants can leave
gear in their car. Registration, refreshments, restrooms and
the awards ceremony (in case of inclement wheather) will be
located inside the Visitors Center.
Refreshments
After the race, stay for refreshments and award presentations,
then enjoy the many features of Cantigny.
Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, packet pick-
up, refreshments, as course marshals and at water stops. The
first 50 volunteers will receive a free race t-shirt, refreshments
and access to the Cantigny grounds and museums for the

Bicycles, Strollers, Etc.
Bicycles, in-line skates, roller skates, scooters, other wheeled
vehicles (except wheelchairs), and dogs are not allowed on
the course, will not be allowed through the finish chutes and
will not be included in results. Runners with baby strollers
may not run competitively and must start after and remain
behind runners for the entire race.
Driving Directions to Cantigny
West on the I-290. Exit at I-88 west interchange. Take I-88 west and
exit at Winfield Road. Travel north on Winfield Road approximately
3 miles. The park entrance is on the right side of the road before
Roosevelt Road (Route 38).
From the Northern Suburbs: South on Route 53 to I-355. Take
I-355 to I-88. Go west on I-88 and exit at Winfield Road and travel
north approximately 3 miles. The park entrance is on the right side
of the road before Roosevelt Road (Route 38).
From the Northwest Suburbs: Route 59 South to Route 38. Go
east on Route 38 to Winfield Road. Make a right at Winfield Road
and the park entrance is on your left approximately 200 yards.
From the Southwest Suburbs: I-355 to I-88. Go west on I-88
and exit at Winfield Road and travel north approximately 3 miles.
The park entrance is on the right side of the road before Roosevelt Road (Route 38).
From the West: I-88 and exit at Winfield Road and travel north approximately 3 miles. The park
entrance is on the right side of the road before Roosevelt Road (Route 38).
