Sophomore Summary

This year was a year to remember my sophomore year. Coming into my sophomore I new it

was going to take more staying on top of my work and keeping things organized because my

freshmen year wasn’t very difficult. Some challenges I faced this school year was having to

balance out school and sports and making sure I was making up assignments I missed due to

being gone for basketball games. Another challenge I faced was trying to stay focused and not

getting distracted with trying other things while trying to get my work done when I’m not at

school.

Ways I overcome these challenges was in between school and before practice I would get

as much school work as I could done, and I would then finish what I had left after practice. From

this I learned how to manage my time wisely and not waste the time I do have in between

school and sports. When I did miss school due to games I made sure to do the work for the day

a night before so I wouldn’t have to worry about getting home late and having to complete work.

Sometimes I can get easily distracted when I see others doing things and I’m doing my work so

the way I solved that issue was by sitting in my room and listening to music while I do my work,

so I can block out the noise around me and it won’t allow me to get distracted.

During my sophomore year in highschool I learned to be more responsible and mature

about the decisions I make. I also learned to stay on top of my work and putting my priorities

first because I used to procrastinate all the time and I’ve now changed myself to go away from
the bad habits. Another life lesson I’ve learned was to make sure I do what I like and not what

others like because I need to find who I am and not who others are. Finally I learned to stay true

to who I am and not worry about what others are going to think or say about me.

Three people who have helped me the most my sophomore year were Mrs. Brewer, my friend

Daniela, and my mom. This year Mrs. Brewer has helped me was because she always makes

sure we stay on top of our work. She also has taught me to be honest with myself and not put

things off to the side. Daniela is one of my friends who doesn’t attend the same school as I do

and even though we don’t see each other she has helped me because she always tells me to

push through what others might think of me and to prove people wrong when they doubt me.

Lastly, my mom has taught me to come out of my comfort zone and to express who I am and

not let myself stay quiet when I don’t like what someone is saying.

This year I am very proud of the things i’ve accomplished but I am most proud about being

able to have been my basketball team captain and lead my team to be CCC Champs this year. I

am most proud of this because I originally planned to be on the JV team but was cut and put on

the Frosh this was a set back for me, but I was able to realize that this was an advantage for me

because I was able to teach girls on my team who are younger and hadn’t had any experience

before. I am very grateful for this opportunity I had because I realized that I was capable of

taking myself and a team to be family and be able to work together under any circumstance.

AVID lessons that were important to me was when we did projects about ourselves. This

really helped me open my eyes and really think about who I am and who I want to become. I

never really spent time to think about the future but after completing these assignments it

allowed me to start planning ahead and discovering the things I like.

One goal I did accomplish was being able to let things go after they happen instead of

dwelling on them. Goals I still need to accomplish are joining one more club and having a 3.8
GPA. One step to getting a higher GPA would be to complete my missing assignments or not

have any in order to have a better grade in the class. I also plan on taking an AG class next

year in order to join FFA. In the end these are some steps I plan on taking to achieve my goal.
