COVENANTS
Genesis 17: 1-2- God called Abraham to “walk before him and be blameless”
concerning the covenant he has with God. God does not walk with man with-
out a covenant. God does not bless man in the absence of covenants. In a be-
liever’s covenants with God, we have the blood of Christ, so we can access
the double cure-salvation and healing.
Similarly, the devil oppresses man because of covenants. When there are no covenants, man is limited in life
and can hardly prosper spiritually. A covenant is like a yoke tied to the neck of the oppressed. Covenants join
with either God or God’s enemy, Satan. Wherever God or the devil goes you go in the presence of a covenant.
A covenant is a formal agreement made between two or more parties and it is legally binding. Human beings
cannot break easily, because it is signed between a stronger and a weaker partner, for instance, God/Satan and
man. In a covenant, the weak takes the strength of the strong, and the strong takes the weakness of the weak.
When there is crisis or challenges arise, the weak calls on the strong to come and help. Marriage is a covenant
where the wife’s problem becomes the husband’s problem, and vice versa. Covenants can be between a man
and a woman; man and God; or man and satan (demons, devil). An example of a covenant can be found in
Joshua 9:15-21, between the Israelites and the Gibeonites. In 1 Samuel 18:1-3- David entered into a covenant
with Jonathan, the son of king Saul. Thus, David started acting as a royalty. In Genesis 31:50-52.
Problems arise anytime there are two covenants with two oppressors. A former covenant must be nullified
before entering into a new one. Covenants can be entered into knowingly or unknowingly. Parents of believ-
ers may have had contacts with demons, and these need to be nullified or denounced in order not to incur
problems. Old covenants need to be broken for new ones to operate prosperously. For instance, polygamy can
be classified as sinful, since it creates problems among spouses. The former marriage covenant needs to be
annulled for the new marriage covenant to operate without problems. Likewise, former covenants with satan
need to be annulled at the new birth, once a believer enters into the blood covenant with the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Some signs of covenants are inability to get married; barrenness in all area of life. For instance, when in a
dream an unknown person consummates with you, you can become barren. When you have a spouse in spirit,
that spouse will not allow a new suitor to enter into a prosperous covenant with you.
How do we enter into covenants? Some sources of covenants are through parents; religion-serving other gods.
All religious attachments are covenants. Believers have covenants with the Holy Spirit through receiving Je-
sus Christ. Likewise Buddhists through Buddha and Muslims through Mohammed. If you have been in cults,
you can be oppressed. Illicit sex can also invite curses in our lives. Some customs and traditions involving
demonic contacts can invite curses. In places where some invitation is made to the dead spirits for help
through libation curses can operate. Sometimes talismans, or fake religious icons are covenants which attract
curses. In Deuteronomy 7:1-15, God commands us to destroy altars of foreign gods and be careful in our
choice of partners. In 1 Corinthians 10:20-21 God warns us to learn from the history of the Israelites. Finally,
remember Proverbs 26:2-Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come
to rest. The anointing of God always breaks the yoke-Isaiah 10:27
