1. Introduction
This Release Notes document describes CeraOS 10.0, which significantly expands
the FibeAir IP-20 product portfolio and provides customers with a greater and
more diverse palette from which to select the elements of their network. CeraOS
10.0 makes MultiCore technologies available in split-mount nodes by introducing
two new MultiCore RFUs, the RFU-D and the high-power RFU-D-HP. CeraOS 10.0
also enables the use of E-Band radio technology in split-mount nodes, and opens
up the possibility of building Multiband nodes by combining Microwave and E-
Band radios in a single IP-20N or IP-20A aggregation node.
The FibeAir and Evolution IP-20 series includes a variety of high-capacity wireless
backhaul products. The IP-20 series provides backhaul solutions that can be used
separately or combined to form integrated backhaul networks or network
segments.
The IP-20 series can be categorized by the following general node configuration
types:
• All-Indoor – An all-indoor node consists of an Indoor Unit (IDU) and one or
more Radio Frequency Units (RFUs), both of which are placed in an indoor
location. Each radio interface on the IDU is connected to an RFU via a Radio
Modem Card (RMC) or Radio Interface Card (RIC), and each RFU is connected
to an antenna via a flexible waveguide.
• Split-Mount – A split-mount node consists of an IDU and one or more RFUs,
where the RFUs are located outdoors and connected to their antennas using
either a direct mount or a remote mount via a flexible waveguide.
• All-Outdoor – An all-outdoor node consists of a unit in which the IDU and RFU
functionality is combined in a single unit. This unit is located outdoors and is
connected to one or more antennas, using either a direct mount or a remote
mount via a flexible waveguide.
This Release Notes document covers the IDU-based IP-20 products used in all-
indoor and split-mount nodes. These products are:
• FibeAir IP-20F
• FibeAir IP-20G
• FibeAir IP-20GX
• FibeAir IP-20N
• FibeAir IP-20A
• Evolution IP-20LH
The all-outdoor IP-20 products (IP-20C, IP-20C-HP, IP-20S, IP-20E, and IP-20V) are
covered in a separate Release Notes document.
For purposes of brevity, the following abbreviations are sometimes used in this
document to indicate applicability to certain products or groups of products:
• All – All of the IP-20 products covered in this document, as listed above.
• Chassis-based products – FibeAir IP-20N, IP-20A, and Evolution IP-20LH.
• FA – FibeAir.
• Evo – Evolution IP-20LH.

3.6 RIC-D
RIC-D provides interfaces between the IP-20N or IP-20A IDU and any of the
following RFUs:
• RFU-D
• RFU-D-HP
• RFU-E
• RFU-S
The 1RU model of IP-20N and IP-20A can accommodate up to five RIC-Ds. The 2RU
model of IP-20N and IP-20A can accommodate eight RIC-Ds.
The RIC-D has two combo interfaces to the RFU (optical or electrical). In CeraOS
10.0, only the first interface (RFU1) can be used.
RFU-D, RFU-E, and RFU-S receive PoE power from the IDU via the electrical
interfaces. If they are connected to the IDU via the optical interfaces, a separate
power cable must be used.
RFU-D-HP must always be used with a separate power cable.
RICs can be placed in any slot except the TCC slot (In a 1RU chassis: slot 1; in a 2RU
chassis, slots 1 and 11).
From CeraOS 10.0, the IP-20N and IP-20A chassis is divided into sections for
purposes of slot configuration. If no specific radio is intended to be used at a
capacity greater than 1 Gbps, no special configuration is necessary. However, if
capacity greater than 1 Gbps is desired, the card must be inserted in a section of
the chassis that is configured to 2.5 Gbps mode.
Note: To set the section capacity using the Web EMS, go to Platform >
Management > High Capacity Configuration, select the relevant slot
section, click Edit, set the Configured Capacity Mode to 2.5Gbps and
click Apply. When you are finished, click Reset Chassis.
For example, to use an RFU-E with greater than 1 Gbps capacity, the RIC-D
interfacing with the RFU-E must be placed in a slot section configured for 2.5 Gbps
mode. It is important to note that:
• Ethernet and TDM cards, and RMCs not being used in Multi-Carrier ABC
configurations, cannot be used in a slot section configured for 2.5 Gbps mode.
This must be taken into account in system planning, so that RIC-D cards
intended for greater than 1 Gbps are placed in a separate slot section.
• Unit reset is required after changing the capacity configuration of a slot
section. Chassis reset is also required after configuring the Expected Card
Type for a LIC-X-E10. Therefore, these operations should be performed during
low traffic periods or maintenance windows. Only one reset needs to be
performed for these operations, so if more than one such configuration
change is planned, the configurations should be performed at the same time,
followed by a single unit reset.
For further information, refer to the Technical Description for FibeAir IP-20N or
the Technical Description for FibeAir IP-20A, CeraOS 10.0.
For RIC-D installation instructions, refer to the Installation Guide for FibeAir IP-
20N, Rev E or later or the Installation Guide for FibeAir IP-20A, Rev F or later.
For RFU installation instructions, refer to the Installation Manual for the relevant
RFU.
For configuration instructions specifically relevant for RIC-D and the new RFUs,
see the following sections in the User Guide for FibeAir IP-20N and IP-20A:
• Section 1.2.2, IDU Overview and Slot Population Guidelines
• Section 1.2.4, Slot Sections and 2.5 Gbps Mode
• Section 1.2.5, Additional Slot Guidelines
• Section 1.2.7, Radio Interface Cards (RIC)
• Section 1.2.15, IDU-RFU Connection and Power Supply
• Section 2.14, Configuring the IDU-RFU Connection (RIC-D only)
• Section 2.15, Configuring Slot Section Capacity Mode
• Section 2.16, Enabling the Interfaces (Interface Manager)
• Section 28.2, RIC-D LEDs

set the CoS mode of either the service or the service points to Default FA IP-20GX
CoS, with a default CoS value of 7.
ASP and LLF • If the Controlled Interface is a LAG, and the physical interfaces that FA IP-20F
belong to the LAG are set to Admin = Down in the Interface Manager, FA IP-20N
ASP is triggered. FA IP-20A
FA IP-20G
FA IP-20GX
ASP and LLF • Extracting an RMC or Ethernet LIC triggers ASP on the remote unit but FA IP-20N
not the local unit. FA IP-20A
FA IP-20GX
LLDP • LLDP cannot be used for more than two IP-20 units that are connected All
to each other via a simple switch or hub.
LIC-X-E10 • In order for a LIC-X-E10 to work in Slot 12, the Expected Card Type for FA IP-20N
Slot 2 must be empty or LIC-X-E10. FA IP-20A

Notes: When the user assigns an SRM to a radio carrier, the modulation
mode and maximum profile are determined by the SRM itself and are
not configured separately.
ACM SRMs function in adaptive mode, with no option to select the
minimum or maximum modulations other than the minimum or
maximum modulation enabled by the SRM itself.
Fixed SRMs provide a fixed modulation, which cannot be changed by
the user.
ODUs SRMs are supported on 5 to 11 GHz only. 4 GHz is not
supported with ODUs.
