1. Post installed rebar connections with fischer Epoxy

injection mortar FIS EM
Features:

Very good bonding of the mortar ensures high loads in concrete.

FIS EM contains Epoxy resin, cement and hardener. Due to this
formula, the ph-value of the resin is the same as concrete. This
prevents the bars from further corrosion.
Slow curing time guarantees a simple installation
under extreme temperature conditions.

FIS EM fulfils suitability requirements according to ICC

Evaluation Service, USA, AC58-acceeptance criteria for adhesive
anchors in case of creep and seismic for rebar fastenings

FIS EM is available in 390ml and 1100ml shuttle cartridge.

International Approvals:
European Technical approval for post installed rebar fixing according EC2 - ETA-09/0089
European Technical approval for bonded anchors from 8mm to 40mm in cracked and non
cracked concrete - ETA-10/0012 – Option 1
American ICC ES approval for rebar’s and threaded rods – ESR – 1990

Advantages:
- For post-installed rebar connections in concrete

- Suitable for cracked and non cracked concrete

- Suitable for underwater applications and water saturated holes

- NO shrinkage of the mortar

- Same ph-value as concrete (>12,5 ph-value) – prevent the bars from corrosion

- Use in diamond drilled holes

- ICC approval

- Shelf life: 36 months

- FIS EM is resistance against various chemicals

- FIS EM has got the WRAS – certification – “ITEM WHICH HAVE PASSED FULL
TESTS OF EFFECT ON WATER QUALITY. BS 6920''

4. Calculation method
4.1 Calculation method according anchor theory – CC Method :
The basic anchorage length hef is calculated according equation [1] considering the full yield
strength of the bar. (NRd,c = NRd,s)

Basic criteria for min. hef and max. hef according ETA Approval ETA – 10/0012:

ds f yk
hef = *
4 γ s ∗ f bd [1]

Note: The design values are for single anchors with large spacing and edge distance!

with:

hef – anchorage length

ds – diameter of rebar
fyk - yield strength of the rebar (Calculated values are based on 460 N/mm²)
γs – partial safety factor of the material - γs = 1,15
fbd – bond strength of FIS EM epoxy chemical (considering different concrete strength)

Values for cracked concrete has to be calculated separate!

4.2 Rebar design according EC2

Calculation according EC2 (Eurocode2), BS 8110, DIN 1045-1 and ACI 318 can be provided.
Cracked and non-cracked concrete is considered in the calculation method.
Calculation according FIS EM approval for post installed bars ETA-09/0089

Basic criteria for min. hef and max. hef:

10 x ds v 15 x ds ≤ 2000mm

min. embedment depth 10 x ds for anchorages

min. embedment depth 15 x ds for spliced bars

NOTE:
If the site conditions are not matching with the above mentioned conditions, given in
the tables, the rebar calculation has to be carried out according rebar theory
(EC2) to prevent damages!

6. Method statement for bars /threaded rods with fischer FIS EM

1 - The drilling position has to be marked

2 - Drilling the hole straight into the concrete until reaching the drilling depth.

3 - Cleaning the hole according following procedure:

3 x blowing (compressed air)

3 x brushing
3 x blowing (compressed air)

4 - The drill hole depth has to be checked.

This can be done by marking the rebar/threaded rod with a tape.

Make sure that the rebar goes well into the drilling hole.

5 - Preparing the chemical and filling the hole:

Safety notice: Protective clothing must be worn!

Cartridges with expired shelf-life must not be used for the installation of post-fixed reinforcement
bars.
The effect of temperature must be kept in mind both during the storage and use of
the chemical mortar:
- Storage temperature of the cartridge minimum +5°C ... maximum +30°C,
- Minimum temperature in concrete ±0°C,
- The maximum processing time – the time between starting mortar extrusion
and the end of setting the reinforcement bar /threaded rod– depends on the temperature of the
concrete

- Attach static mixer to the cartridge,

- Place the mortar cartridge in the dispenser,
- Operate the dispenser until the mortar begins to come out from the injection
nozzle/ or extension tube

● discard the first two piston strokes when using a manual dispenser

- Insert the extension tube with attached injection adapter right down to the base of
the drill hole and start extruding

- Slowly pull back the dispenser during filling

- Stop the injection as soon as the required volume has filled into the hole. Filling Volume the
filling Volume ca be calculated as follows:

π
V = * ( D 2 − d 2 ) * hef * 1,2 / 1000 = Volume in ml
4
D = drill diameter in mm
d = rebar diameter / thread diameter in mm
hef = embedment depth in mm

6 - Using a turning movement, push the reinforcement bar/threaded rod vigorously into the
mortar-
filled drill hole, pushing it up to the setting depth marking

The reinforcement bar/threaded rod is deemed to be set correctly if:

no movement of the reinforcement bar occurs, and
no noise of blasting air bubbles occurs, and
excess mortar exits from the mouth of the drill hole, and
the setting depth marking on the reinforcement bar/threaded bar is flush to the concrete
surface

7 - After setting, do not move or load the reinforcement bar/threaded rod until the specified curing
time has elapsed.
- The curing time – the time interval between first extrusion of the mortar and the
complete curing of the mortar – depends on the temperature of the concrete
member. The data’s for the curing time are also mentioned on the cartridges.

Gelling and curing time of fischer FIS EM

Cartridge temperature Gelling time temperature at Curing time

+30°C - +40°C 7 min. +30°C - +40°C 5 hrs.

The above times apply from the moment of contact between resin and hardener in the static mixer. For
installation, the cartridge temperature must be at least +5°C.
