Midday and evening: both in Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (HC01)
and St. John’s Cathedral (HA02).

Place of silence and prayer


In St. Paul’s Church, Central (HA03). Church is open for the whole day.

Meals
• Lunch will be distributed after the midday prayer. Dinner will be distributed
from 6pm. Lunch and dinner are distributed at Caritas Hall (HD01) and
Raimondi College (HS06).
• On the day you have midday and evening prayer at St. John’s Cathedral
(HA02), a packed lunch will be distributed after the midday prayer at Li Hall.
For dinner, please come directly to Caritas Hall (HD01) and Raimondi Col-
lege (HS06) after your afternoon program.

Transportation
After the morning programme, for some places, a coach is arranged to bring you
to the place for midday prayers. Please be attentive and punctual to take the coach.
You can reach most places within Central on foot. It is often the fastest way.

Echoes and personal stories


To share with others an experience of the Hong Kong meeting, or to continue
the reflection on the Proposals 2018, do not hesitate to write a personal story and

Ecological concerns
• Bring your own bottle. There will be water fountains for refilling.
• Bring a reusable bag. Reduce the use of disposable plastic bags.
• Use a handkerchief instead of tissue or wet tissue.
• Avoid using plastic straws.
• There will be recycling bins in the main venues.

Proposals 2018
Inexhaustible Joy
A young woman who was very ill said to me last year, “I love life.” I remain deeply
moved by the inner joy that filled her, in spite of the narrow limits imposed by
her illness. I was touched not only by her words, but by the beautiful expression
on her face.

And what can we say about the joy of children? Recently I saw some children in
Africa whose presence, even in refugee camps where so many tragic stories are
concentrated, makes life burst forth. Their energy transforms a mass of broken
lives into a nursery full of promise. If they knew how much they help us to re-
main hopeful! Their happiness at being alive is a ray of light.

We would like to be enlightened by such examples as we undertake, throughout


the year 2018, a reflection on joy, one of the three realities—with simplicity and
mercy—that Brother Roger set at the heart of the life of our community at Taizé.

With one of my brothers I went to Juba and Rumbek, in SOUTH SUDAN, then
to Khartoum, the capital of SUDAN, to better understand the situation of those
two countries and to pray alongside women and men who are among the most
afflicted people of our time.

We visited various churches and saw their work of teaching, of solidarity, of


caring for the ill and the excluded. We were received in a camp for displaced
persons, where many children stay who were lost by their parents in the course of
tragic events.

I was particularly impressed by the women. The mothers, often very young, bear
a large part of the suffering caused by violence. Many had to flee their homes in
haste. And yet they remain at the service of life. Their courage and their hope are
exceptional.

That visit has brought us still closer to the young refugees from Sudan whom we
have been welcoming in Taizé over the last two years.

Before this, two other brothers and I were in EGYPT for a five-day young adult
gathering at the Anafora Community, founded in 1999 by a Coptic Orthodox
bishop. We spent time praying, getting to know one another and discovering the
long and rich tradition of the Egyptian Church. One hundred young adults came
from Europe, North America, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Algeria and Iraq; they were
welcomed by a hundred young Copts from Cairo, Alexandria and Upper Egypt.

Our attention was drawn in particular to the heritage of the martyrs of the Coptic
Church as well as to its monastic roots, which are a constant call to simplicity of
life. My brothers and I were warmly welcomed by Pope Tawadros II, the head of
the Coptic Orthodox Church.

On our return from Africa, we said to ourselves: people pay so little attention to
the voice of those undergoing such grievous trials—whether they are far from us
or nearby. It is as if their cry gets lost in the void. Hearing it through the media is
not enough. How can we respond to it by our lives?

The following proposals, for the year 2018, are inspired in part by this question.

First proposal:

Dig deeper into the wellsprings of joy


This is what the Lord says: I have loved you with an everlasting love, and so I have
continued to show you my affection. (Jeremiah 31:3)

The Lord your God is with you. He takes great delight in you; he will renew you with
his love; he will sing with joy because of you. (Zephaniah 3:17)

Rejoice in the Lord always; I will say it again: rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)

Why is it that, every Saturday evening, the church at Taizé, illuminated by the
small candles that everyone holds in their hand, takes on a festive air? It is be-
cause the resurrection of Christ is like a light at the heart of the Christian faith.
It is a mysterious source of joy that our minds will never be able to comprehend
fully. Drinking from this wellspring, we can “bear joy within us because we know
that ultimately the resurrection will have the last word” (Olivier Clement, Ortho-
dox theologian).

A joy which is not an inflated feeling, nor an individualistic happiness which
would cut us off from others, but the serene assurance that life has meaning.
The joy of the Gospel comes from the confident trust that we are loved by God.
Far from being a state of exaltation leading us to run away from the challenges of
our day, it makes us more sensitive to the distress of others.

• Let us find our joy first of all in the certainty that we belong to God. A prayer
left by a witness to Christ from the fifteenth century can support us in this:
“My Lord and my God, take from me all that keeps me far from you. My
Lord and my God, give me all that brings me closer to you. My Lord and my
God, take me out of myself and give me completely to you” (Saint Nicholas of
Flue).
• Our joy is nourished when we pray together in song. “Sing to Christ until you
are joyful and serene,” Brother Roger proposed. Singing with others creates
both a personal relationship with God and a communion among those who
are gathered together. The beauty of the prayer space, of the liturgy and of the
songs is a sign of resurrection. Praying together can awaken what the Chris-
tians of the East call “the joy of heaven on earth.”
• We can also discover reflections of God’s love in human joys awakened in us
by poetry, music, artistic treasures, the beauty of God’s creation, the depth of
a love, of a friendship….

Second proposal:

Hear the cry of the most vulnerable


Hear my prayer, Lord; let my cry come to you. Do not hide your face from me when
I am in distress. (Psalm 102:2-3)

Jesus, filled with joy through the Holy Spirit, said: I praise you, Father, Lord of heav-
en and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and
revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, this was your heart’s desire. (Luke 10:21)

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for, in so doing, some have welcomed
angels without realizing it. Remember those in prison as though you yourself were
in prison with them. And remember those who are treated badly, as if you yourself
were suffering. (Hebrews 13:2-3)

Why are so many people undergoing so many trials—exclusion, violence, hunger,
sickness, natural disasters—and yet their voices hardly get a hearing?

They need support—with shelter, food, education, work, and medical care—but
what is just as vital for them is friendship. Having to accept help can be humiliat-
ing. A relation of friendship touches hearts, the hearts of those in need as well as
those who show solidarity.

Hearing the cry of someone who has been wounded, looking into their eyes,
listening to or touching those who are suffering, an elderly person, someone who
is ill, a prisoner, a homeless person, a migrant.... This personal encounter allows
us to discover the dignity of the other and enables us to receive something from
them, for even the most destitute have something to offer.

Do not the most vulnerable people make an irreplaceable contribution to the


building up of a more fraternal society? They reveal our own vulnerability, and in
this way help us become more human.

• We should never forget that, in becoming human, Christ Jesus was united to
every human being. He is present in every person, especially those most for-
saken (see Matthew 25:40). When we go towards those wounded by life, we
come closer to Jesus, poor among the poor; they bring us into greater intima-
cy with him. “Do not be afraid to share in the trials of others, do not be afraid
of suffering, for it is often in the depths of the abyss that a perfection of joy is
given to us in communion with Jesus Christ” (Rule of Taizé).
• Through personal contacts we are led to find ways of helping the destitute,
not expecting anything in return, but nonetheless attentive to receive from
them whatever they wish to share with us. In this way we allow our hearts to
widen and become more open.
• Our earth is also vulnerable. It is wounded more and more deeply by the
ill-use that human beings make of it. We need to listen to the cry of the earth.
We need to take care of it. We should seek, particularly by changing our way
of life, to struggle against its progressive destruction.

Third proposal:

Share trials and joys


Rejoice with those who are rejoicing ; weep with those who are weeping. (Romans 12:15)

Happy those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)

Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemias 8:10)

After his resurrection, Jesus still bore the marks of the nails of his crucifixion (see
John 20:24-29). The resurrection encompasses the suffering of the cross. For us who
follow in his footsteps, joys and trials can coexist; they merge and become compas-
sion.

Inner joy does not weaken solidarity with others; it nourishes it. It even impels us to
cross borders to join those going through difficulties. It keeps alive in us the perse-
verance to remain faithful in committing our lives.

In privileged circles, where people are well fed, well educated, and well taken care
of, joy is sometimes absent, as if some people were worn out and discouraged by the
banality of their lives.

At times, paradoxically, the encounter with a destitute person communicates joy,


perhaps only a spark of joy, but an authentic joy nonetheless.

• We always need to rekindle our desire for joy, which is so deeply rooted in us.
Human beings are made for joy, not for gloom. And joy is not meant to be kept
for oneself alone, but to be shared, to radiate outwards. After she received the
message of the angel, Mary set out to visit her cousin Elizabeth and to sing with
her (Luke 1:39-56).
• Like Jesus, who wept at the death of his friend Lazarus (John 11:35), let us dare
to weep in the face of human distress. We can carry in our hearts those who are
afflicted. By placing them in God’s hands, we do not abandon them to the fatality
of a blind and merciless fate; we entrust them to the compassion of God, who
loves every human being.
• Remaining alongside those who suffer, and weeping with them, can give us the
courage, in an attitude of healthy revolt, to denounce injustice, to reject what
threatens or destroys life, or to try to transform an impasse.

Fourth proposal:

Among Christians, rejoice in the gifts of others


God made known to us the mystery of his will. It was what he had planned through
Christ, to be put into effect when the times have reached their fulfillment: to bring all
things in heaven and on earth together under one head, Christ. (Ephesians 1:9-10)

How good and how pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to live together in unity!
(Psalm 133:1)

God sent Christ into the world to gather into one the whole universe, all creation,
to recapitulate all things in him. God sent him to bring humankind together into
a single family: men and women, children and the elderly, people from all back-
grounds, languages and cultures, and even opposing nations.

Many people long for Christians to be united so they no longer veil, by their divi-
sions, the message of universal fellowship brought by Christ. Could not our unity
as brothers and sisters be a kind of sign, a foretaste, of unity and peace among
human beings?

• As Christians of different Churches, we should have the audacity to turn


together towards Christ and, without waiting for our theologies to be com-
pletely in tune, to “put ourselves under the same roof.” Let us listen to the
call of a Coptic Orthodox monk who wrote: “The very essence of the faith is
Christ, whom no formulation can circumscribe. So it is necessary to begin
our dialogue by welcoming Christ, who is one…. We must begin by living to-
gether the essence of the one faith, without waiting to reach agreement about
the expression of its content. The essence of faith, which is Christ himself, is
founded on love, on the gift of self.” (Father Matta el-Makine, 1919–2006.)
• To enter at once into this process, we can begin by thanking God for the gifts
of others. During his visit to Lund (Sweden) on the occasion of the 500th
anniversary of the Reformation, Pope Francis prayed, “Holy Spirit, enable us
to recognize with joy the gifts that have come to the Church through the Ref-
ormation.” Inspired by this example, let us be attentive to recognize in others
the values which God has placed in them and which we may be lacking. Can
we try to receive their difference as an enrichment for us, even if it includes
aspects that initially put us off? Can we find the freshness of a joy in the gifts
of others?

為2018年的四項建議
永不枯竭的喜樂
去年,一位身患重病的年輕女人對我說:「我熱愛生活。」儘管她被疾病
所糾纏,但是那份從內心中流溢出的喜樂,卻讓我深受感動。並非只是她
的話,還有她那動人的表情。

孩子們的喜樂是什麼呢?最近在非洲,我見到了一些孩子,即使在危機四
伏的難民營中,他們的存在仍然讓那裡充滿了生機。 他們的活力讓這充斥
著傷痛經歷的地方,成為了希望的苗圃。他們或許還不知道是他們使我們
懷有希望。他們的幸福好像黑暗中的一束光芒。

藉著這些美好見證的啟發,我們要在2018深入反省「喜樂」這個主題,它
與簡樸和慈悲同是羅哲弟兄視為我們泰澤團體生活的核心。

我與一位修士前往南蘇丹的朱巴(Juba)和倫貝克(Rumbek),然後去了蘇丹首
都喀土木(Khartoum),以便能更瞭解兩國的局勢,並與這時代最受苦難的
人民一起祈禱。

我們訪問了不同教會,看到他們致力於教育、促進團結共融、照顧病人和
被社會遺棄的人。我們被一個難民營接待,那裡住了很多在發生多次悲劇
事件期間失去父母的兒童。

我對那裡的婦女們印象尤其深刻。這些母親-往往非常年輕-承受暴力導
致的極大痛苦。很多人要愴惶逃離家園。然而,她們依舊努力生活。她們

科普特教會殉道者的精神遺產曾經深深地吸引著我們,這是隱修生活的根
基,一種對簡樸生活的持續的召叫。我和弟兄們受到了科普特正教宗主教
奧佐羅斯二世(Tawadros II)的熱情款待。

當我們離開非洲,在回來路上我們認識到:那些為苦難者發出的聲音,無
論或近或遠,都很少會引起我們的關注。這聲音好像在空氣中漸漸逝去。
僅關注媒體所傳達的資訊是不夠的,那麼如何在我們的生活中回應這些聲
音呢?
以下2018年建議,部分是受到這個問題的啟發。

第一項建議
發掘喜樂的泉源
這是上主說的:我愛你,我永遠愛你,因此我給你保留了我的仁慈。
(耶肋米亞31:3)
上主在你中間。他必為你喜不自勝,對你重溫他的愛情,且因你歡躍喜樂
(索福尼亞3:17)
你們在主內應當常常喜樂,我再說:你們應當喜樂(斐理伯書4:4) —思高本

耶和華向以色列顯現、說、我以永遠的愛、愛你、因此我以慈愛、吸引

耶和華你的 神、是施行拯救、大有能力的主、他在你中間必因你歡欣喜

為什麼在每個週六的晚上,當泰澤的聖堂被每人手中小蠟燭的燭光充滿
時,堂內會呈現出一種慶節的氛圍?在基督徒信仰的核心中,復活的基督
如同一道真光。它是喜樂的神秘之源,是我們的心靈永不能完全理解的。
從這泉源汲水,我們便能「滿懷喜樂,因為我們知道,復活將是我們的終
結。」(東正教神學家奧利維瓦•克萊孟[Olivier Clement])。

喜樂並非一種自滿的感覺,更不是導向以自我為中心的幸福感,而是對生
命意義的一份溫和的保證。

福音的喜樂來自滿懷信心的信賴,深信上主愛我們。喜樂不是興奮的狀
態,引導我們逃避日常的挑戰,而是使我們對別人的困苦更加敏感。

• 讓我們首先藉著肯定自己屬於上主而找到我們的喜樂。一篇由十五世
紀的基督見證人留下的祈禱文在這方面給我們支援:「我主,我的上
主,求你取去所有使我遠離你的事物。我主,我的上主,求你賜給我
所有使我更加接近你的事物。我主,我的上主,求你使我忘記憂愁,
卻把自己完全交付給你。」(St Nicholas of Flue)

• 我們的喜樂是透過一起以歌詠祈禱而得以滋養。羅哲弟兄建議:「向
基督謳歌,直至你充滿喜樂和寧靜。」與別人一起歌唱,這締造了個
人與上主的關係,以及聚在一起的人之間的共融。祈禱空間、禮儀和
歌詠之美,就是復活的標記。一起祈禱能夠喚醒東方基督徒所稱的
「天堂之樂在人間。」

• 在透過詩歌、音樂、藝術瑰寶、受造物之美、真摯的愛、友誼……所
喚醒的人類心中的喜樂中,我們也可以發現上主之愛的形象。

第二項建議
聆聽最弱小者的呼求

上主,求你允我的祈求,願我的呼聲上達於你!在我蒙難的時日,求你不要
掩面回避我。(聖詠102:2-3)
耶穌因聖神而歡欣說:「父啊!天地的主宰,我稱謝你,因為你將這些事瞞
住了智慧及明達的人,而啟示了給小孩子。是的,父啊!你原來喜歡這樣
做。(路加福音10:21)
不可忘了款待旅客,曾有人因此於不知不覺中款待了天使。你們應懷念被囚
禁的人,好像與他們同被囚禁;應懷念受虐待的人,好像你們也親身受了一

為什麼有如此眾多的人經歷如此眾多的考驗-受排斥、暴力、饑餓、疾
病、天災-而他們的聲音幾乎沒有人聽到?他們需要支援-住屋、食物、
教育、工作和醫療-但為他們同樣重要的,就是友誼。有求於人,可能會
讓我們感到羞愧。友誼的關係觸及人心,對於受助著和表現出團結的助人
者皆是。

聆聽傷痕累累者的呼聲,注視他們的雙眼、聆聽或接觸受苦的人,不管是
老人、患病的人、囚犯、無家可歸者、移民……與這個人的相遇讓我們發
現他人的尊嚴,也使我們能夠從他們身上領受一些事物,因為即使最貧窮
的人,總有一點東西可以施予。

為了建設一個更具有弟兄友愛的社會,難道不是那些最弱小者做出了不可
替代的貢獻嗎?他們向我們啟示了自身的脆弱,並幫助我們更富於人性。

• 我們永不要忘記,耶穌基督降生成人,與每個人結合。他在各方面相
似人,尤其那些最被遺忘的人(參閱瑪25:40)。當我們走向那些在生命
中受創傷的人,我們就是更走近耶穌、貧苦人中的貧苦者;他們使我
們與耶穌建立更親密的關係。「不要害怕分擔別人的考驗,因為正是
往往在深淵裡,圓滿的喜樂藉著與耶穌基督的共融而賜給我們」
(泰澤會規)。

• 透過個人接觸,我們找到幫助貧困者的方法,不期待任何報答,但無
論怎樣都注意接受他們願意與我們分享的任何東西。這樣,我們使心
靈變得更寬大、更開放。

• 我們的地球也是容易受傷害。由於人類的濫用,它受傷得越來越深。
我們需要聆聽大地的呼喊。我們需要照顧它。我們應該尋求,尤其藉
著改變我們的生活方式,力求抵抗它不斷受到破壞。

分擔考驗,分享喜樂
應與喜樂的一同喜樂,與哭泣的一同哭泣。(羅馬人書12:15)
哀慟的人是有福的,因為他們要受安慰。(瑪竇福音5:4)
你們不可憂愁,因為喜樂於上主,就是你們的力量。(厄斯德拉下8:10b)

耶穌復活後,仍留下被釘十字架的釘孔(參閱若20 :24-29)。復活包含十
字架的痛苦。對我們追隨他芳蹤的人來說,喜樂和考驗是可以共存的;他
們互相融合,變成憐憫。

內在的喜樂並不削弱與他們的團結共融;反而加以滋養。它甚至催迫我們
跨越界限,與那些正在經歷困難的人作伴。它使我們常保持不屈不撓的精
神,忠於奉獻我們的生活。

在特權圈子裡,人們豐衣足食、受過良好教育,並得到很好的照顧,有時
卻沒有喜樂,彷佛有些人因乏味的生活而感到冷淡和精疲力竭。

有時,矛盾的是,與貧困的人相遇會傳遞喜樂,或許只是一點點喜樂,但
不論如何,是真正的喜樂。

• 我們常常需要重燃對喜樂的渴望,因為喜樂是深深植根在我們之內。

普世友愛的訊息。難道我們的弟兄友愛不能成為一種人類合一與和平的標

的神學完全協調,「把我們置於同一屋簷下。」讓我們聆聽一位科普
特正教會隱修士寫道:「信仰的本質是基督,沒有公式可以限制他。
因此,必須藉著接納唯一的基督而展開我們的對話……我們必須藉著
一起生活出唯一信仰的本質而開始,不等待就信仰內容的表達達成共
識。信仰的本質是基督自己,基於愛和自我的交付。」(Father Matta

Discovering local communities and small-group meetings:

After initial presentations, break up into small groups and take time to introduce
one another. Then read the commentary below on the Bible passage from morn-
ing prayer (Isaiah 55:1-3a). Speak together and share using the questions given at
the end of the commentary.

In this text, a prophet speaks to the people of Israel at a difficult time in their
history. The nation has been destroyed, and the leaders deported. But the prophet
says to them, “Despite appearances, God has not forgotten you. God is still with
you in your exile and will open for you a new and better future. So come to him
and trust in his promises.”

Many people see religion as, first of all, doing something for God. They think of
it as a list of rules to follow. But the faith of the Bible is something different. It be-
gins with trust in a loving God, who always wants to lead us towards the fullness
of life. The prophet here uses the image of a banquet, a meal with lots of good
things to eat and drink, as a way of expressing life in all its fullness. But it is clear
from the text that the important thing is to listen, to discover God’s voice in the
midst of all the noise that surrounds us. That is the true food that will nourish our
lives, instead of the things that society tells us are important but which will not
satisfy our deepest longings.

When Jesus came to earth, he spoke in the same way. He gave us, not rules we
would have to follow so that God would love us, but the “good news” that God
was coming to his creation in a new way to make true relationships possible—
with God, among human beings and with all creation: “The time has come and
God’s Reign is at hand…” (Mark 1:15a). So the important thing is to accept this
message and let it transform our lives: “…change your outlook and believe in the
Good News” (Mark 1:15b). Is it not sometimes more difficult to keep on trusting
when things look bad than just to change our outward behavior? And yet that is
what matters most.

Discovering local communities and small-group meetings:

Read the commentary below on the Bible passage from morning prayer (Matthew
9:9-13). Then speak together and share as yesterday.

There was no special reason to be interested in Matthew. If people passing by his


tax booth didn’t have to pay any taxes, they would probably not even notice him
or else would ignore him. Matthew was a Jew working for the Roman tax admin-
istration. Most probably, he made some extra money dishonestly. He was maybe
not very happy with his situation, but he couldn’t just change the job he had.

Then Jesus passed by. Jesus didn’t ignore Matthew, but noticed him and looked
at him as if he were somebody special. He saw in Matthew a unique person. And
more amazing still: he invited him to be one of his companions and friends. Most
people judged or ignored Matthew. Jesus trusted him and asked him to follow
him.

Then we see Jesus at dinner with tax collectors and sinners. The Pharisees thought
and taught that sinners should eat with other sinners, and the righteous people
with the righteous. If Jesus and his disciples would have been sinners, the Phar-
isees wouldn’t have bothered. But they were indignant because they respected
Jesus. They respected him so much that they didn’t even dare to criticize him
directly, but only through his disciples: “Why does your teacher eat with sinners?”
They didn’t understand how a holy man like Jesus could mingle with sinners. Did
he not put holiness in danger by abolishing separation?

Jesus justifies his behavior by presenting himself as a doctor. Doctors don’t run
away from those who are sick. They have to meet and even touch them. Jesus calls
sinners into his company because in his presence they are healed and trans-
formed. Matthew was transformed by the trust Jesus showed him. Jesus’ holiness
is not defensive but communicative. And the medication Jesus uses is compas-
sion, according to the word of God spoken by the prophet Hosea: “I desire mercy,
not sacrifice.”

• What did Matthew find and see in Jesus that he got up without hesitation and
followed him at once?
• How can I let Jesus look at me and welcome the trust he places in me?
• As we walk in Jesus’ footsteps, which wounds of today’s world can we
contribute to heal with the remedy of compassion?

Discovering local communities and small-group meetings:

Read the commentary below on the Bible passage from morning prayer (Hebrews
12:1-2). Then speak together and share as yesterday.

The believers of the early Church may not have been numerous, but they knew
that they were surrounded by a great crowd of witnesses to faith of all the ages.
The previous chapter (Hebrews 11) mentions some of them, beginning with Abel,
Enoch, Noah and Abraham, and alludes to others. As we read these lines, we may
find various people coming to our minds, witnesses to faith far or near whom we
know, perhaps from our own land or town, or else relatives, members of our com-
munities or even friends whose faith and example are a source of encouragement
to us.

With an image familiar to people of the Mediterranean world 2000 years ago
and familiar also to us today, the author of the Letter to the Hebrews compares
all of these witnesses to fans in a sports arena. They are, as it were, standing and
cheering us on from the stands. Their faith and example give us added energy and
courage as we “run the race”, straining forward in the midst of the challenges and
struggles we face, trying to keep our trust in God.

But however encouraging the faith and the example of these witnesses may be, we
are not called to look at them but rather at “Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our
faith.” The letter describes Jesus too as one who “ran the race”. He kept going de-
spite difficulties, putting up even with the shame of the cross. He doesn’t observe
our efforts from afar. If the author invites us to look at Jesus, it is because, now
risen from the dead, he looks at us and understands us. “Because he himself was
tested by what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested” (Hebrews
2:18).

簡介早上的活動後,分成各小組,然後互相介紹。閱讀以下有關今日早禱
讀經的短論(依/賽55:1-3a)。一起以篇幅最後的問題作分享。

在這篇經文中,先知在以色列子民經歷困難時期的時候向他們講話。他們
的國家滅亡,領袖被逐。但先知對他們說:「雖然眼看不見,但上主從未
把你們忘記。在流亡中,上主仍然與你們同在,並將要為你們創造一個新
而更美好的未來。到祂跟前來,信靠祂的許諾。」

許多人認為宗教主要是為上主做點事。他們認為宗教就是遵守一連串的戒
律。可是,聖經信仰卻有所不同。 它源於對慈愛上主的信靠,上主總是願
意帶領我們走向圓滿的生命。在這裡,先知用宴會的形象,一頓佳餚美酒
盛宴,作為一種表達圓滿生命的方式。但從經文中可以清楚地看出聆聽,
並在我們周圍的噪音中認出上主的聲音是很重要的。這才是滋養我們生命
的真正食糧,而不是那些社會告訴我們重要的,但無法滿足我們最深切渴
望的事。

當耶穌來到世上時,祂以同樣的方式說話。他並非教導以遵守戒律而換
取上主之愛的規則,而是給我們帶來「喜訊」,上主以新的方式來到人
間,使上主、人類之間以及宇宙萬物建立真正的關係:「時期已滿,天
主的國臨近了......」(谷﹝可﹞1:15a)。 因此,重要的是要接受這個信

閱讀以下有關今日早禱讀經的短論(瑪 /太9:9-13)。如昨日早午一樣作分
享。

瑪竇(馬太)沒有特別吸引我們的原因。如果經過他的稅關的人不用交
稅,可能甚至不會注意到他,或者會忽視他。瑪竇(馬太)是一名協助羅
馬人管理稅務的猶太人。他很有可能不誠實地賺取一些額外金錢。雖然他
可能對自己的處境不太滿意,但他不能就這樣轉換工作。

後來耶穌經過稅關。耶穌不但沒有忽視瑪竇(馬太),反而注意到他,注
視着他,就像看到一個與眾不同的人一樣。祂看出瑪竇(馬太)是個獨特
的人。更令人驚訝的是,祂邀請他成為同僚友好。大多數人都判斷或忽視
瑪竇(馬太),但耶穌相信他,並召叫他跟隨祂。

接著,我們看到耶穌與稅吏和罪人同桌進食。法利塞(賽)人認為並教導
人們,罪人應當與其他罪人一起進食,而義人應當與義人一起進食。如果
耶穌和門徒曾經是罪人,法利塞(賽)人就會置之不理。他們氣憤是因為
他們尊重耶穌。他們非常尊重祂,甚至不敢直接批評祂,只能間接對祂的
門徒說:「你們的老師為什麼同罪人一起吃飯?」他們不明白耶穌這樣
神聖的人怎可能與罪人交往。祂廢除分隔的律法,豈不是把神聖置於險境

耶穌以醫生的形象證明自己的行為是合理的。醫生不會離開病人。他們必
須與他們見面,甚至觸摸他們。耶穌與罪人為伴,因為在祂的臨在,他們
得到醫治和轉化。瑪竇(馬太)因耶穌對他的信任而得到轉化。耶穌的神
聖不是在於防衛,而是在於連繫。耶穌所用的藥物是憐憫,正如上主向歐
瑟亞(何西阿)先知所說的話:「我喜歡仁愛勝過祭獻。(我喜愛憐恤、
不喜愛祭祀。)」

閱讀以下有關今日早禱讀經的短論(希 /來12:1-2)。如昨日早午一樣作分
享。

早期教會的信眾未必可能很多多得不可勝數,但他們知道有一大群不同年
代 齡的信德證人圍繞着他們。前一章(希伯來書11章)提到了其中一些
人,從亞伯爾(亞伯)開始,到哈諾客(以諾)、諾厄(挪亞)和亞巴郞
(亞伯拉罕),還提及到其他人。當我們讀到這些章節時,我們可能發覺
到不同的人會從我們的腦海出現,我們所認識的,從四面八方而來的信
德證人,他們可能是來自本土或市鎮,或者是親戚、社區成員、甚至是朋
友,他們的信德和榜樣都是我們的鼓勵之源。

2000年前地中海地區人民熟悉的形象,我們今天也很熟悉,希伯來書的作
者把所有證人比作運動場上的粉絲。他們好像站在看台上為我們打氣一
樣。他們的信德和榜樣在我們「奔跑賽程」時,為我們增添力量和勇氣,
使我們在面對的挑戰和困難的時候,仍然奮力前行,持守對上主的信靠。

但無論這些證人的信德和的榜樣是何等激勵人心,我們並不是蒙召注視着
他們,而是注視着「使信德的創始者和完成者耶穌(信心創始成終的耶
穌)」。這書信描述耶穌也是為「奔跑賽程」的人。儘管祂他遇到困難,
仍然堅持到底,即使遭受十字架的恥辱也是如此。祂他沒有只從遠處觀察
我們所付出的努力。如果作者邀請我們注視着耶穌,是因為現在已從死裡
復活的耶穌注視着我們和了解我們。「他既然親自經過試探受了苦,也必
能扶助受試探的人。(他自己既然被試探而受苦,、就能搭救被試探的
人。)」(希﹝來﹞2:18)。

• 哪些人因著他們對基督的信靠而影響了我和塑造了我?他們在哪方面
對我很重要?
• 當我察覺到「眾多如雲(如同雲彩)的證人」(如同雲彩的見證人)
圍繞着我時,對我意味著什麼意思? 我們如何能經常留意到他人對我
的支持,並依賴他們的幫助?我的生活有沒有一些地方需要改變,免
得我孤身行走?
• 注視復活的耶穌在哪些方面對我有幫助? 祂也是一個證人(見證),
也受過苦難和考驗,這個事實如何影響我和祂的關係?
