The Executive Summary:

We eight members are willing to start a business. The members constitute

of……………………………………………, we all are pursuing MBA from SB College of
management Studies under Bangalore Central University. As we all know that due
to urbanization people shifting from rural areas to urban areas. Due to evolution
of technology and science the introduction of hybrid vegetables, fruits, animal
husbandry has now become popular. But these are not good for health. So by
taking this into account we have planned to start a business based on organic
farming in all the sectors including fruits, vegetables, poultry, fishery, dairy and
goat farming.

Organic farming is the production of crops and livestock without the use of
synthetic chemicals and in-organic fertilizers. Organic agriculture aims at human
welfare without any harm to the environment which is the foundation of human
life itself.

Description of the Business

Go Naturals (P) LTD. is located in Singur, Hooghly, West Bengal, more specifically
45 Km from Kolkata is a perfect place to start this business. Organic farming will
give its best results in areas having a high quantity of organic carbon, which is a
rich source of nutrient which will likely produce high yield. And on the other hand
we have the advantage of holy Ganga through which we will get adequate water
throughout the year.

Top Level Goals

1) To develop a sustainable agricultural system for guaranteed adequate food

production in the foreseeable future.
2) To develop self-sufficient agricultural system which would rely as much as
possible upon resources from within its own resources.
3) To develop an alternative strategy over chemical farming which would be a
guideline for the working of biological processes in natural system.

And the strategies behind obtaining all this goals will be understanding the basic
of organic agriculture and the organic farming standards, identifying the
resources that will help us, planning the transitions carefully, understand the soil
and way to improve them, identifying the crops the livestock suited for our area,
design proper crop rotations, identifying the pest and methods of controlling
them, and lastly keeping the records.

Products

There are seven sectors in our company

1) Vegetables
2) Cereals crops
3) Fruits
4) Dairy (milk)
5) Goat farming
6) Poultry
7) Duck farming
8) fishery

The organically produced vegetable, cereals, and fruits are grown with natural
fertilizers (manure, compost). Weeds are controlled naturally through crop
rotation, hand weeding, mulching, and tilling. Pests are controlled using natural
methods (birds, insects, traps) and naturally derived pesticides.

And the organically produced meat, dairy, fish, and eggs are grown without the
use of growth hormones and are given GMO-free food. Diseases are prevented
with natural methods such as clean housing, rotational grazing, and healthy diet.
And the most important is the livestock will have access to outdoors.

The target markets for my products are those who want to have fresh and healthy
naturally obtained food product which will add to their health. We are planning
do to tie-ups with many departmental stores like Spencer’s, Big Bazar, Spar, More,
etc and put up our products over there. As now in the 21st century everyone is
very concerned with their health, so the promotions will be done in many ways to
attract the prospective customers.

Financial Planning

Government schemes for promoting organic farming:

Indian government offers capital investment subsidy for organic farmers. It is

offered through National Centre of Organic Farming (NCOF) under department of
Agriculture and Cooperation with NABARD. The prime objective is to readily make
available organic resources for improving farm productivity without letting soil
health and ecosystem’s balance to deteriorate.

Incentives are available for reducing dependence on chemical aids and promote
conversion of organic wastes into nutrition sources for plants. Credit linked and
back-ended subsidies are available.

The subsidy amounts to 25% of net project cost (maximum limit INR 40 Lakhs per
unit) for biological fertilizer and pesticide units, and 33% of fruit and vegetable
compost units (maximum INR 60 Lakhs). The time period allocated for organic
farming project to be materialized is 15 months with grace of 3 additional
months.

Implementation of GST (Goods and Service Tax) however has turned out to be a
spirit dampener of sorts. Bio-inputs which earlier used to attract 0-5% tax now
draw a GST of 18%. This has driven up the production cost to a good extent
considering the fact that bio-fertilizers make up about 20% of inputs.

Future of organic farming in India

Organic agriculture in India has a promising future. Increasing health awareness

among masses, framing of stringent governmental regulations for controlling
pollution of natural resources, and reducing emission of greenhouse gases,
granting of attractive subsidies, and relaxing of export laws for organic produces
would offer needful impetus for promoting organic farming in India in coming
days.
The consequent price hike of produces would weaken the competitive quotient
of domestic manufacturers in international markets. The finance minister is
however reviewing the tax rates in quarterly GST meetings and taxes are slated
to be slashed in coming days. India is envisioned as becoming the ‘Organic Hub
of the world’ by 2020.
