Lesson 4
First HMI Mimic on Centum VP
In previous lessons we only visualized the status of the controller program. In this lesson we will add the
simplest operator interface for visualizing the status of the technological process.
The task
Develop a HMI process control tank filling from previous lessons.
Decision
The HMI operates in the execution environment of the HIS operator station.
4 Go to the Draw tab and paste the copied image into the mnemonic scheme - press the [Import Image]
button

9 Click the right mouse button on this button and select the Properties item in the context menu that
appears.
13 On the Function tab, select the action that will be performed by pressing the button:
Function Type: Call Data Input Dialog
Data: PB001.PV
15 As a result, an interactive start button of the technological process should appear on our mnemonic
diagram:

16 To simulate the SWA and SWB level sensors, in the same way, we add two more buttons that differ from
the PB001 button only in the labels and links to process variables:
For the SWA button - Data: SWA.PV
For the SWB button - Data: SWB.PV
17 To visualize the VLVA valve in the template panel, select the valve template:
18 Open the valve properties window and on the General tab, tick the Activate Tag Object

Select action:
the Color the Change: the Normal the Change the Color
Push the button [Add] - is a condition in terms of the list (at the bottom)
As a result, the valve will be red, if the value of the process variable VLVA.PV will be zero and green if VLVA.PV
= 1.
20 Similarly, we add another VLVB valve to the mnemonic with one difference: Condition: VLVB.PV == 0

24 Change the rectangle modifier so that when the SWA level sensor is on, the color of the rectangle changes
to blue:
25 As a result, two more green interactive valves, two buttons and a white rectangle will appear on our
mimic:
27 Click on the HIS0164 and launch the virtual simulator of the operator’s station:
HIS> Virtual HIS
28 Click the FCS0101 and launch the virtual simulator of the control station runtime:
FCS> Test Function
29 Switch the matrix to the automatic mode of operation (see previous lesson)

30 In runtime, the mimic window can be opened by name from the "Name Input Tool Box" panel:
- set the name of the mimic diagram: GR0001
- press the [Call] button
31 In runtime, the mimic window can be opened from the "Tool Button Tool Box" panel by the [Graphic]
button:
32 Press the START button in the opened window of the mnemonic circuit - the data entry window appears:
Specify:
Data = 1
Press the [Enter] key on the keyboard
33 We imitate the operation of the SWA and SWB level sensors from the operator interface and monitor the
process flow:
