A Beginner’s Guide to Get

Started and Earn Extra

Money on the Side (without
quitting your job)
PROGRESS AND WIN

This is a quick ready-to-chew guide to help you get started. Here’s what we’re going to
cover:

• The fears and uncertainties we have about starting up

• 3 most common fears (What-if scripts) all of us have (and how do you overcome it)
• List of 30+ successful business ideas for inspiration and getting started today
• The exact 5-step roadmap laid out for a profitable business or earning extra money
on the side (without quitting your day job)

I’m going to be covering in depth material on each of these topics on the PAW site and
to my email subscribers, but this is a good high-level overview for you to really know
how it’s done.

Enjoy, and let’s begin!

PROGRESS AND WIN

“How do I get started?”

You want to have a business. You want to get started. You want something of your
own. But you just don’t know where and how to start. (By the end of this guide, you’ll
have a list of 30+ successful business ideas to start with.)

Doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie blogger or a 9-6 working professional or someone

else – you’re constrained by time.

Add to it the thousand different options and news we come across daily – “Invest in
stock market, build a startup, company X raised $500 million, follow your passion, start
a website and put some ads on it, do SEO, social media………”

What do we do in the end? Nothing.

Because willpower is limited. Time is limited. We as humans are cognitive misers.

There’s a finite amount of information we can process in our productive time.

And so, the goal of Progress and Win is NOT to teach you SEO, keyword research,
backlinking, affiliate marketing, etc., but to give you tactical step by step information on
starting a side business or finding your profitable idea, alongwith the psychological
mindsets and frameworks to overcome your barriers.

After going through 1000 hours of researching, testing, refining, failing, deeply investing
myself in this space – I’ve developed a process (which I’m going to show you) to start a
business.

Nobody talks about this. Most people want to talk about things like –
• “Top 7 ways to get traffic”
• “19 WordPress plugins and the best hosting provider you need”
• “How to get Facebook followers”
• “How to do keyword research!”
• “Google adsense, Organic SEO traffic”
PROGRESS AND WIN

But I’d rather take a different approach and focus on the few key things like generating
business ideas or how to get your first customer (and then scaling it to the next 100),
etc.

Because those are your MOST important things, your Gold Stars, which moves the
needle at the end of the day.

I also feel it’s extremely important to have some of the mindsets in place before you get
started. These are anxieties and curiosities which you’ll have today or tomorrow. Let’s
start with some common ones.

The “What-if” Scripts

Forget business, and take any other area of our lives, like going to the gym or learning
a new skill or make an investment decision. Before we start anything new in our lives,
the voice inside us starts screaming with all sorts of doubts, uncertainties and fears.

I call them What-if scripts. “What if this doesn’t work?”, “What if I don’t have time?”,
“What if I’m not an expert?” and on and on.

Let me share with you the 3 biggest what-if scripts I’ve discovered amongst
entrepreneurs which you WILL face as you get started, so you’re ready to tackle them.

What-if Script #1: “What if I'm not an expert?”

Or “Why would anyone listen to me?”

The other day, I met an old college friend after a long time at a coffee shop. In our first
5 minutes, she said something interesting -

“You still have that thing in you!”

PROGRESS AND WIN

I questioned - “What thing?”

“You know, that particular something”, she said doing some hand gestures.

I still probed further - “What is it exactly?”

“It’s like the way you talk, make face expressions and just express yourself in general.
It’s by Zubin. It’s unique to you!”

Aha! That was an aha moment. You see, there are certain things which are only unique
to YOU. Nobody can take that away from you. That differentiates you, that makes you
unique, that makes you an expert.

Maybe it’s the way you do coding, dress better, iron shirts, dance well, take pictures,
play guitar, create an amazing resume, give advice to friends, talk confidently, etc.

The truth is, with 20+ years of your life experience, you’re guaranteed to be good at
many things.

However, these hidden skills are not obvious to us. I’m going to show you how to
identify these skills, and turn them into profit.

Let me share some examples to show you how some simple ‘mundane’ tasks are
actually a business and making a living from the comfort of their home.

• EspressoEnglish.net : A site that teaches you how to speak English like a native
• DW-Secrets.com: An eBook on how to save significant money with your vacation
trip at Disney
• Chandoo.org : Selling online courses and eBooks on teaching Excel

These ordinary ideas are businesses. With a little effort, you can turn your existing skills
and turn it into a real business.

There are plenty of examples you’ll find but the point I want you to anchor in your mind
for now is that “I’m not at expert” is simply a psychological barrier.

Because at the end of the day, people don't pay for credentials, they pay to solve
their problems.

Let’s repeat this again because it is so important to internalize it – “people don't pay
for credentials, they pay to solve their problems.”
PROGRESS AND WIN

What-if Script #2: “There is a lot of competition already. Someone

is already doing what I plan to do”

Here’s a super-fast way to feel dejected – just do a random search on google about
your idea, see someone already doing something similar, and then pchhhhh!

“There is already someone doing this!”

Get depressed and start complaining? Hell NO!

Here’s a way to reframe it – competition is a GOOD thing. It means there is already a

demand and a healthy market for your idea. It’s like someone has already done half the
work for you.

When I started with my business Industrial Inside, there was a lot of competition and
still is.

Whether it’s relationships, careers, business, fitness, personal finance -- the key to
avoid becoming just another face in the crowd is to STAND OUT. There are lots of
ways you can do it and we’ll talk about this too, but for now the takeaway point I want
you to remember is that competition is a good thing.

Never worry about them since you’ll be different and unique in your offering with some
strategies I’m going to teach you.

What-if Script #3 “I don't have any idea”

.
Alright. Let me give you some tough love here. Firstly, you can’t expect an idea to
magically fall down from the sky. No promising ideas are going to come to you. If you
want business ideas for inspiration, start with this free resource here and you’ll see tons
posted everyday.

However, we need to create a process to brainstorm a list of ideas which you can
further do things like research, validation, elimination, etc.

Let’s now look at the exact 5-step roadmap you need to start a side business.
PROGRESS AND WIN

The 5-Step Framework You Need to Get Started and

Earn Extra Money on the Side (while keeping your day
job)

On one of my motivated Saturday mornings, I was sitting on my laptop browsing a

million websites on earning more money.

But what happened? Some looked those spammy “Get rich quick” sites right in the first
5 seconds, some lacked credibility, some genuine ones too but didn’t have high quality
material, etc.

In a world where everyday hundreds of thousands of websites are born, it is incredibly

difficult to trust someone.

And so, after digging through thousands of pages, books, podcast episodes, websites,
etc. I’m going to be distilling all the information to give you just the best proven material.
This won’t be one of those – “Hey, this is the idea. Do it and become rich by next
week!”

This WILL require work. This will require commitment and taking out time. There is
really no shortcut to starting a successful and sustainable business. Others won’t tell
you this, but I like to be brutally honest.

“You know what, I’m ready for this. I know there will be obstacles, but I’m ready
to commit myself.”

Saying this to yourself, adapting mindsets and mastering your inner psychology really
separates top performers from anyone else.

With that said, let me lay down the EXACT step by step process you want to implement
for starting a side business or earning extra money.
PROGRESS AND WIN

You can do all those 5 steps all by yourself. I did it, the examples I showed you above
have done it, and I know and have studied plenty of people who have done it
successfully too.

Don’t worry. We’ll be covering all of those in extreme step by step detail. For now, it’s
important to get a bird eye’s view of the common fears you’ll have and what exactly you
need get started.

And as I always emphasize, there won’t be any content on SEO or keyword research or
backlinks or getting a company registered, or anything of that nature.
