Special Caring Center for Tribal children under 0 to 5 years in 20 remote villages
of Westernghat mountain plains of Erode district, Tamilnadu.

INTRODUCTION: Our Country India has more concern with Child rights and women rights for their betterment and
livelihood even in gross root level. Tribal are under developed in the aspects of social, education and economic. Due to our
NGO intervention the following need gaps were identified in the area of child development and child welfare.

- All the tribal people of under reproductive age group are going for earnings and left their infants / children under
custody of their elder children who are the school going children. Due to this care taken children are irregular for school
attendance.
- The family income is not meeting nutrition to family members particularly the children’s balanced diet.
- Due to malnutrition and parental care the developmental milestones are delaying.
- The parents are mere supporting for early child hood development and overall development such as social, cognitive,
language and emotional, psychological aspects.
- Therefore the above situation creates malnutrition and lack of psychological development among 0 to 5 years children
in this indigenous community.
Need of the Project: By and large to tackle above problems there is need Community base Care Center (CBCC) to protect
our tribal children from the malnutrition delayed mile stones. The supply of nutrition, activity based learning, language
development, erasing school fear in future, will ensure overall early child hood development and produce the healthy and
self esteemed tribal children. Based of the above project need the organisation intends to work for the tribal children
development. There is need to establish 20 centers with accumulation of 20 children under 0-5 years average in a village
like Thottankombai, Kinathadi and Kakkayanur intervention areas. Financial need for a Community based Child day care

Healthy Nutrition for Future Mothers in Tribal Community
Promotion of Nutritional status among future and pregnant mothers in Tribal Areas

INTRODUCTION: About 80% of the adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and women are under anemic status due to
malnutrition and improper diet pattern among tribal communities. The anemia prevalence is higher than male in all
section of the society particularly in the tribal community. Female are more prone to malnutrition and anemic.

Ill effect of anemia and malnutrition among tribal women.

 Due to anaemia and malnutrition deficiency adolescent girls get physical weak, low stamina, less
concentrate on their studies, irregular menstruation and other physical complications.
 Because of malnutrition and anaemia the pregnant mothers face pregnancy complication like long labour,
constipation, swelling, low birth weight and so on.
 Besides the anaemic women lose her productive work, irregular menstruation, menopause problems etc.
Need of the Proposal: Because of malnutrition status the community’s production is affected. Therefore there is
need to rectify the anemic status among vulnerable groups like adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and anemic
women among tribal community target population.

Aim of the Proposal: The proposal aims to rectify the status of anemia and nutritional deficiency through nutritional
interventions among the women in particular villages of our area.

Strategies and activities: The following strategies and activities are proposed to increase the nutritional status
among the selected groups.

1. Supply of Nutritional mix products or your nutriton products.


2. Supply of IFA Tablets
3. Dew arming process
4. Health education and food demonstrations.
No of initial beneficiaries among tribal are: adolescent girls, Pregnant Mothers, Anemic women, Total=50

Outcome of the Project: * Promoted Nutritional status among adolescent tribal girls *. Ensured safe and normal
child birth among selected pregnant women * Nutritional status increased among 50 tribal community women.

Conclusion: Anemia is not a disease. It is one of the deficiency status. It can be corrected through timely
intervention and specific activities to correct the anemia status. The good nutrition promotes healthy and wealthy
community.

The Tribal family income is not meeting nutrition and clothes to family members; Due to malnutrition and parental care the
developmental milestones are delaying; The parents are mere supporting for child hood development and overall
development such as social, cognitive, language and emotional, psychological aspects.

Need of the People: By and large to tackle multi level problems to protect tribal from the Food and clothes delayed mile
stones. The supply of nutrition, activity based learning, language development, erasing school fear in future, will ensure
overall development and produce the healthy and self esteemed tribal community. Based on the above need the
organisation intends to the tribal. There is need to 20 different scatted villages of those intervention areas.

Conclusion: Integrated and milestone development is needed for every people in tribal community children. This type of
small activities will ensure the healthy community in the Western hat mountain remote tribal villages of reserve forest
area of Erode District of Tamilnadu, We request you to send any type of Clothing, Bed sheets, Blankets, Nutrition as well
for them.

General View of the Project Area

The overall objectives of the project are:


- To establish Day Care Centre for Tribal Children under Age 5 in all remote tribal villages.
- To Increase the production of food crops such as millets and grams and vegetables.
- To create a sense of awareness for the women folk towards value add forest produces.
- To re-construct and strengthen the villages through IGP / Skill Training activities.

PROJECT BENEFICIARIES/ Population:


The direct project beneficiaries would be tribal household members from 20 villages.

LANNED ACTIVITIES : 1.Among these tribal their children are taken care by their own. There is need Community base child
care centers with coverage of these villages. The absent of attendance of SSA school students is very common because the studying
children keep their young child in their family. To avoid the situation day care centre for the children below age 5 years is very necessary
2. Presently the young married women have no source of income they will be trained and engage in small trades like sewing, pickle
product of forest produces like, mango, makali roots, amla, kilakkai and tamrind etc. Subsidiary activities of agriculture the Milky cows
will be one best way along with produces of vermi, Manure and panchakavya for eco-farming types. 3.In Thottankombai village 10 years
back the our Organisation renovated 57 tribal customs houses with support of Government of India, CAPART. Now the timbers of
houses were damaged and those will be renovated. This is our immediate need. On that time the Govt supported to deepening 4 wells
also. The wells are filled up mud. It will be deepened or bore well established for agricultural purpose to increase food products of
millets in the forest lands. 4. Forest Land to use of tribal people for shifting cultivation in the forest villages are to be cultivated for
permanent basis. So that the people need a tractor to land leveling and ploughing. This is the permanent solution to continue the millets
crop cultivation round the year. 5.Now days the forest elephants increased and to avoid disturbance solar-fencing is very much need to
product the hamlets and agriculture lands and Road Facility.

The project is soliciting assistance for a period of 3 years. Thereafter it will be in position to finance its operation from the revolving fund
that will be established.
