COMPUTER LESSON PLAN [GRADE III] 2019-20

Grade: III Subject: Computer Topic: Ch-2 Hardware and Software

No. of Periods: Dates (From……….. To ……..)

Sub-Topics:
1. Hardware
2. Software
Student Objectives/Learning Outcomes:
After this lesson, students will be able to:
1. distinguish between computer hardware and software.
2. discuss the purpose of each hardware part.
3. Identify internal and external computer hardware parts.
Day 1
Engagement Activity: [Based on Previous knowledge]
Material Required:

Plan the activity “Treasure Hunt” in the computer lab space. List the items i.e. names of input
and output devices. Determine the number of clues. Create a map (area in the lab where
students can look for clues and order e.g. teachers table, chair, under the duster, keyboard,
mouse, monitor etc), print the clues and hide the clues at those spots. Make a prize (sticker/
badges) as treasure at the end of the hunt.

Clue Object

To solve the hunt, you must get Computer lab

Into the room wired to the net
Crammed with tech and full of code
The clue is hidden in this abode

Ink but no pen. Paper but no news. Cable but no TV. printer (ask is it an input

Now introduce the term 'Hardware'. Now
comes software. To explain it take the
example of a car and its driver. A car can
not run be itself , there need a driver to
drive the car . Similarly a computer
hardware cannot work by itself , we need a
driver to drive it . We can call that driver as
a ‘Software’. So we must have a software to
drive( or to make work) each hardware .

Again take example of different vehicles, for

example a train and an airplane. Can an
engine driver fly an airplane? No. Similarly a
software can not drive more than one
hardware . So in order to make the printer
working , we need a software and in order
to make a web cam working , we need
another software .

Launch the printer software on desktop and

show them printer and its software. You
can say that if there is no such software, we
can't use a printer. If there is facility, you
can show some more software and
hardwares like web cam and its software
etc.

Day 2: Explain chapter with the help of PPT [Annexure 1]

Annexure 2

Description of Tic Toe Activity:

Students can play a physical Tic Tac Toe.

Where in 2 teams (X and O) can be made
eliminating 9 students from each team
who will stand in the grid to answer the
questions. A 3 X 3 grid can be made on
the floor using a paper tape. 9 students
from each team can stand in the grid. The
teacher will ask the team, in their turn to
select a person from the grid to answer
the question. Teacher will ask the
question from the member standing in
the grid, if he/ she gives a correct answer
then he will be crowned with a X/ O. if
he/ she give an incorrect answer then the
two team will discuss the answer
amongst their team members and
answer. Which ever team gives the
correct answer that team will select the
member from the left locations and
he/she will be crowned X/O. Whichever team gets the horizontal, vertical and diagonal rows, wins. Now
the team can be replaced by other team members who are standing.
