under the Uniform Commercial Code as enacted in Ohio.
12. OTHER TERMS. These terms and conditions and any issue, claim or dispute arising hereunder
shall be interpreted under and governed in all respects by the internal laws of the State of Ohio,
and not by the 1980 U.N. Convention on the International Sale of Goods. These terms and
conditions and the written quotation to which they relate constitute the entire contract between
the parties, and supersede all other oral or written statements of any kind whatsoever made by
the parties or their representatives. Waiver by Entek IRD of strict compliance with any one or
more of these Terms and Conditions is not to be considered a continuing waiver or a waiver of
any other term or condition. No statement purporting to modify any of these terms or
conditions shall be binding unless expressly agreed to in writing signed by an officer of Entek
IRD and by Customer.
C. Customer shall not assign or otherwise transfer the license to the Software granted herein

No. of Planes
This option determines whether single-plane or two-plane balancing is required, a good
rule-of-thumb is the rotor’s width-to-diameter (W/D) ratio. The W/D ratio is the width
(excluding shaft length) of the combine rotors divided by their diameter. The following
chart can be used to help determine whether to use one- or two-plane balancing.

Rotation
This option selects the rotation of the rotor, clockwise or counterclockwise.
Weight Units
This option selects the units used in balancing.
Length Units
This option selects the units used in measuring the distance between the shaft and the
weight.
Movement
You place weights on the rotor to balance the machine. The position of this weight is
given in degrees or positions (where the total number of positions equals the number of
blades or vanes) from the reference notch or mark. You must select whether you are
measuring the angle with or against the direction of the shaft rotation.
The Movement option affects how angles are measured. If Movement is set to With
Rotn, angles are measured from the reference mark, in the direction of the machine’s
normal rotation.
If Movement is set to Against Rotn, angles are measured from the reference mark, in the
opposite direction of the machine’s normal rotation.
Trigger Type
This option selects the trigger source.
z Laser Tach – Enables the internal Laser Tachometer.
z ext Analog – An external analog trigger will be used to trigger data sampling. You
must also set the slope and trigger level.
z ext TTL – The signature acquisition process begins when a TTL trigger is applied. A
TTL trigger in the range 2.5V - 5V will begin signature acquisition. You must also
select the slope.
Note: If you set Trigger Type to Laser Tach, you do not need to set the slope or trigger level.
Trigger Level
Enter the amplitude level for externally triggering the measurement. This option is only
applicable if you set Trigger Type to ext Analog.
When you are finished configuring the Advanced Setup options, press the Apply button to
go back to the Balance Setup screen.
Filter
This option selects the high pass filter to apply to the measurement. The high pass filter is
useful in removing high vibration, low frequency signal components, which can dominate
the signal. Choose Off if you do not want to use a filter. The default is 2 Hz.
Detection
This option selects the type of signal detection for the measurement.
z Peak – The Enpac measures the dynamic signal from zero to peak voltage. Use this or
the RMS setting for most acceleration and velocity measurements.
z Pk-Pk – The Enpac measures the dynamic signal from the minimum peak to the
maximum peak. Use this setting for most displacement measurements.
z RMS – The Enpac measures the dynamic signal as the square root of the mean of the
square. Use this or Peak for most acceleration and velocity measurements. Also use
this for voltage measurements.
No. Averages
Enter the number of averages (1 – 8) for the measurement. The default is 4.
Solution
If you are two-plane balancing, you can select the balancing solution.
z Dynamic – The correction weights will be calculated for both planes 1 and 2.
z Static-Couple – The correction weights will be calculated as a combination of Static
and Couple. The Couple balance weights will be presented as the same weight in both
planes 1 and 2, with a phase angle of 180 degrees difference. The Static part of the
solution will be calculated at the center between planes 1 and 2.
Plane
Select the plane for which the settings below apply.
Input Chan (Input Channel)
This option selects the input channel required for the measurement.
Coupling
This option selects the type of coupling to apply to the measurement.
z AC – AC-couples the input voltage signal. Power is not applied to the sensor.
z ICP – Provides a constant current power source to the sensor.
Sensitivity
Enter the sensitivity of the transducer using the numeric keypad. Sensitivity is set as
mV/EU, where EU is the base engineering unit of the sensor. A 100mV/G
accelerometer would be set as 100mV/EU.
Type
Select either continuous or fixed. For a rotor without vanes or blades, select
continuous.
No. of posns (number of positions)
Enter the number of positions (3 - 360) if Type is set to Fixed. The number of
positions refers to the number of rotor components, such as blades on a fan. Enter 0
(zero) for a rotor without vanes or blades.
Postion (Position) 1 Offset
Enter the position 1 offset (0 - 360), if necessary. Note this is only applicable if Type
is set to Fixed.

“Reviewing Data” on page 27 for more details.
You can split the correction weight into two distinct angles, as well as modify the radius of
the correction weight. Additionally, the Enpac calculates the amount of weight that might
be removed if weights are already attached to the rotor.
You can unsplit the correction weight by repeating the above steps and choosing No.
5. When the speed, vibration, and phase values are stable (Measurement Status indicator
turns green), press <READ/OK>. The residual measurement is complete. The
following message appears.
7. Shut down the machine and attach the trim weight(s) whose weight, angle, and radius
are indicated on the screen.
Note: Do not remove the original correction weight.
8. Start the machine and let it reach operating speed. Press <READ/OK>, and then press
the OK button if the transducer is attached to plane 1. The Enpac takes vibration
readings, calculates new trim weight(s) and displays it as described in steps 5 and 6.
9. If the rotor is still out of balance, repeat adding the trim weight and taking residual
measurements until the rotor is properly balanced. If several trim correction runs have
been performed (resulting in several trim weights), values may be combined into one
permanent trim weight. See “Combining Weights Screen” on page 29. Note that if the
balance never improves, check to see if you entered the correct trial weight size and
location, or check other factors such as misalignment or a faulty bearing.
However, if the vibration has been reduced to an acceptable level, balancing is
complete. Save your balancing data, if desired, by pressing the Memory button. See
“Saving a Balance” on page 31 for details.
7. When the speed, vibration, and phase values are stable (Measurement Status indicator
turns green), press <READ/OK>. This completes the plane 1 measurement.
8. The Enpac asks if the transducer is attached to plane 2. If the transducer is attached,
press the OK button to begin the plane 2 measurement.
9. The Enpac automatically measures the speed, vibration, and phase in the second
plane. The values are constantly updated on the screen. Allow these values to stabilize
before continuing to the next step.

Additionally, the Enpac calculates the amount of weight that might be removed if weights
are already attached to the rotor.
You can unsplit the correction weight by repeating the above steps and choosing No.
4. The Enpac automatically measures the speed, vibration, and phase. The values are
constantly updated on the screen.
5. When the speed, vibration, and phase values are stable (Measurement Status indicator
turns green), press <READ/OK>. This completes the plane 1 measurement.
6. The Enpac asks you if the transducer is attached to plane 2. If the transducer is
attached, press the OK button to measure plane 2 speed, vibration, and phase.
7. The Enpac automatically measures the speed, vibration, and phase in the second plane
and constantly updates the values on the screen.
8. When the values stabilize (Measurement Status indicator turn green), press
<READ/OK> to complete the measurement. The residual measurement is complete.
The following message appears.
10. Shut down the machine and attach the trim weight(s) whose weight, angle, and radius
are indicated on the screen.
Note: Do not remove the original correction weight.
11. Start the machine and let it reach operating speed. Press <READ/OK>. The Enpac
takes vibration readings, calculates new trim weight(s) and displays it as described
above.
Highlight the step that you want to return to, then press the Go to pt button. The Enpac
displays the selected screen. You can then retake a measurement, if necessary.
Note: You can only return to steps that have check marks next to them.
Reviewing Data
This section describes the Vibration Summary Table and the Weights Summary Table
screens. These screens can be used to review the data in the balance run. Additionally, the
Combine Weights screen is described. This screen allows you to combine the correction
weights into one weight.
Highlight a weight
and press the Select
button. Enpac places
a check mark next to
the selected weight.
2. Highlight a weight by using the <UP> and <DOWN> keys or by touching the weight.
3. Press the Select button. Enpac places a check mark next to the selected weight.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have selected all the weights you want to combine,
then press the Accept button. The following screen appears.
5. Press the Yes button to combine the weights. Note that if you do not want to combine
the weights, press the No button.
6. Enter the radius (in inches) for the combined weight and press the OK button. The
Enpac combines the weights and displays the results in the Combine Weight screen,
as shown below.
