CEDAS Version 2.01 was developed and copyrighted by Veri-Tech, Inc., based on

Experiment Station, Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA (now known as the Engineer Research
and Development Center, Waterways Experiment Station).

Version 2.01 contains all the codes in Version 1.01 with the following additions and
improvements:

* Ten new codes in ACES.

* EST (Empirical Simulation Technique) - is a life-cycle approach to risk analysis based
on bootstrap resampling-with-replacement, interpolation, and smoothing of observed
and/or computed information about site-specific historical events.
* Automated Grid Generation for DYNLET.
* Additional Utility Codes in BMAP
* Improved graphics and file standards in BMAP and SBEACH
* Capability of using tidal currents in STWAVE
* Direct import of WIS files into NEMOS
* Automated GENESIS grid generation

Installation notes:

* An Auto-Run procedure is built into the CEDAS installation package and is designed to
activate as soon as you insert the CD into the drive. The software only runs on Windows
95, 98, NT (4.0 or better with SP 5 or better), 2000, and XP. Problems have been
experienced with Windows ME since it was designed for home computer use. If the
Auto-Run procedure does not activate on your system, browse the CD and run
"setup.exe" and follow the instructions of the installation package. Our software forces
the system to be installed in a folder named "CEDAS20". You may place this folder
anywhere on your system. Default location is: C:\Program Files\Veri-Tech\CEDAS20.
* If you are installing on a machine not connected to a network, the first execution of
CEDAS will bring up a Dialog Box providing a Unique ID and asking you to enter an
Unlock Number to activate the software. Please email us at support@veritechinc.com
and provide us with your serial number and Unique ID. We will reply with the required
Unlock Number. This procedure can also be handled by telephone at (601) 636-1454.
* On Windows NT, Windows 2000, and XP, CEDAS 2.01 allows multiple users on the
same computer to use the software. The installer must have administrative privileges. In
order for non-administrators to use the software, a user with administrative privileges
must install the software and run CEDAS for the first time in order to unlock the
program. Once the program is unlocked, any user on that machine may execute CEDAS.
This procedure is also required if you are using a hardware lock.
* If you are installing a CEDAS Upgrade Version from 1.01 to 2.01, it must be installed
on the same machine as the earlier version.
* Since Version 2.01 files are forced to be installed in file folder ...\CEDAS20, it is
recommended you install Version 2.01 and check its operation before uninstalling Version
1.01 to reduce storage requirements.

File folders on your CD: (these folders are NOT installed on your computer)

* CEDASMANUALS contains *.RTF alphabetized help file documents for each model
in CEDAS.
* DYNexamples contains three example folders, each containing a separate example data
set for DYNLET. There is also a Microsoft PowerPoint tutorial describing how to use
DYNLET and the new automated grid generator.
* ESTfiles contains an adjusted NOAA HURDAT storm data file. This file corresponds
to the old numbering system for tropical storms prior to the inclusion of storms before
1886.
* GENESIS Grid Generator contains a tutorial of the automated Genesis Grid Generator
* NEMOS Tutorial contains a folder of all example data files used in the tutorial
examples and a Microsoft PowerPoint tutorial on how to use all the models in NEMOS.
* STWAVEexample contains a Microsoft PowerPoint tutorial and associated example
data files explaining how to include tidal currents in a STWAVE application.
* SBASimages contains digital images for use within SBAS for example applications.

REMEMBER: All files on your CD are "Read Only" files. If you copy any of the
example data files to your computer, you must change the "Read Only" attribute to be
able to use these files in CEDAS. Simply right-click the file, select Properties, and
remove the Read Only check.

CEDAS Internal Graphics: CEDAS uses a third-party software, Olectra 2D-Chart, for
most of the graphics routines in CEDAS. The latest editions of this software have been
somewhat unstable in regard to accessing the help files associated with their product. If a
problem occurs with an error message "Cannot find the *.hlp file", click No, then OK.
Click another tab on the 2D Chart dialog box and try the Help button again. It should
activate the proper help file. We have placed a direct access to these help files on the
Windows Start Menu for CEDAS. In case the Help button does not work on the 2D-
Chart dialog box, go to Start/Programs/Coastal Engineering Design & Analysis System to
find the appropriate help file.
