EXERCISE 4.3

1. A student in a Physics class was able to obtain the following scores.

Average Quiz = 95
Mid-term grade = 76
Final exam = 84

a. Determine his final grade if the instructor considers the average quiz, mid-term
grade, and the final exam to be of equal importance.
b. Determine his final grade if the final grade can be computed by getting 20% of
the average quiz, 50% of the final exam and 30% of the mid-term grade.
c. Determine his final grade if the instructor considers the mid-term to be twice as
important as the quiz, and the final exam to be of equal importance as the mid-
term grade.

2. The rate per hour (in pesos) of the 10 employees of a certain company were
taken and are shown below.

55.55, 57.13, 42.75, 64.23, 59.10, 38.59, 48.41, 55.55, 48.74, 55.80

c. Determine the value of the mode.
d. If the value 42.75 was erroneously written whose actual value is 32.75, then
what measure of central tendency will be affected? Support your answer.

3. The daily mean sales of ARTCOM COMMERCIAL for the month of

December was computed at P7,386.85. When the figures were reviewed, it was
found out that on December 24, the actual sales was P9,389and was erroneously
written P6,689. Assuming that the store was open for 23 days for the month of
December, then determine the store’s daily mean sales for December.
