1. Answer: By walking around and having daily contact with line employees, managers can
understand the daily challenges of the line up employees. They can also get updated about what is
happening in the company or how satisfied the employees are or if they are facing any problem in
doing their regular tasks. Manager can make understand their views and goals to the line employees
which can not be understood from looking at data and reports.
For example- a sales person is selling a product and is facing problems while selling it. The person
knows where the problem is but he has no way to raise the problem with higher authority. A
manager can hardly understand the scenario by looking at the balance sheets or income statements.
In this type of scenario, MBWA(management by walking around) can be effective.

2. Answer: As an employee, I would appreciate if my supervisor regularly spent time with us. I
think, It is really a matter of honour for any employee if the management behave friendly with
them, respect them and their feelings.

If I know top executives routinely interact with line employees in any organization, then my
attitude will change positively towards the organization. Because I believe in this type of
organization the work environment is very balanced and suitable for any kind of employees.
Employees normally shows respect to each other, do fun, play games and be happy. In such
situation the pressure of work also reduces and employees remain satisfied with their job and
working environment.

3. Answer: From the case, we can clearly understand that MBWA(management by walking
around) is a great way by which executives and other organizational leaders can learn about day-
to-day business operations besides going “undercover. Besides that, in any organization
environment and culture is very important. Because this two things normally describe an
organization. If the environment is friendly and culture is good then the management can clearly
understand what is happening in the company. Different cultural program and competitions are
also a good way to change the environment and to understand the environment in the organization.
These type of programs also make the environment very healthy and remove collisions.

4. Answer: By using MBWA(management by walking around), a manager can clearly understand

the employees situation. But it can hampers the regular work of the employees also. Because
everyone has his own way of doing any work. If the management interfere with their work, then it
can be a problem. The top level employees also have some executive level work. If the
management interact with the employees and become more friendly then it can hamper the
organization’s goal and objective as well. It is also possible that employees is guessing the
executives as intruders and overseers.
