Power Electronics & Power Quality Applications

PROLOGUE
The 4rd International IEEE Workshop on Power Electronics and Power Quality Applications was
organized by the IEEE – IAS Student Branch from Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede
Manizales, IEEE – IAS Student Branch from Universidad de los Andes and by the IEEE – IAS
Colombia Chapter. Also, from the affiliates of the LACEP – Power Quality and Power Electronic
Laboratory at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and co-sponsored by the IEEEE, IEEE Industry
Application Society and IEEE Colombia. PEPQA 2019 is being held from May 29 to 31 for the first
time at Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Manizales, Campus La Nubia.

4rd edition of PEPQA takes places in the end of the second decade on the XXI Century as a principal
conference in power electronics and power quality. Attendances of PEPQA have allowed ten paper
sessions, two tutorials, four international keynotes, and 2 special sessions from international experts
in industry applications. Covered topics are a meditation of the changes that are carrying out in the
power electronic and power quality and the increased intensity of research activity of the people
involved. This allows PEPQA to be an open space for professionals, students and researches to
present their work and share experiences. Keynotes of PEPQA offer a discussion on the need to
produce and deliver high quality electrical energy through the improvements of power electronics and
to design from a power quality perspective, aiming to close the gap between technology and research
from an industry application point of view. Tutorials provide a learning environment with
methodologies that attendees can use in power systems protection, grounding, and power quality
solutions. Special care has been given to the scientific sessions by limiting them to an average of
about four papers per session to allow an active discussion with the researchers and the possibility
for authors to share a poster session. For last, attendants are encouraged to meet the coffee culture
through our closure event.

From Executive Committee we extend to each contributor of PEPQA 2019 our thanks for a job well
done. For last, PEPQA is an example of the work performed from students to students to achieve a
high standard conference in the energy field to improve the formation of professionals.
