•Biomorphism is an art movement that began in the 20th century.

•Biomorphic comes from combining the Greek words ‘bios’, meaning life, and
‘morphe’, meaning form.
•It involves taking naturally occurring patterns or shapes in nature and combining

•fibreglass-reinforced
•plastic and
•feet of its 3 legs are coated in rubber.

NIMROD CHAIR…

Nimrod chair is a classic example of

Newson's unique vision for everyday living.

Known for his fun, style comprised of flowing

lines and bold colors,

 The frame is made of moulded polyethylene

and the cushions in expanded polyurethane.
MICARTA CHAIR…..
Marc Newson designed the Micarta Chair
in 2007 for Gagosian Gallery in New York.

Made from a material known as Micarta i.e a natural

material.

Low chair machined from a linen phenolic composite.

linen phenolic sheet is an electrical grade, high strength composite that consists of phenolic resin
impregnated into layers of woven linen fabric.
MICARTA CHAIR…..

Micarta is a natural material that is sensitive to

ultra-violet light.

Micarta refers to a rigid composite material

made from laminated paper, fiberglass, cloth,
impregnated with a plastic resin.

It is commonly used as an electrical insulator

and as a tool handle, particularly for knives.

It‟srich tones will deepen with prolonged

exposure.
Black hole CARBON FIBER TABLE….

Newson designed an early production of the

100% carbon fiber black hole table in 1988,
but it didn‟t live up to his standards.

Finally in 2006, Marc was able to perfect the

design and manufacturing process, and created
ten tables.

The table has an interesting design, making

use of solely three legs, and a triangular
shape on top.

Being all one piece, the manufacturing process

must have been so difficult to perfect.
