Introduction: (4-5 minutes)

The teacher greets the student and makes a brief introduction to the lesson. He explains what
kind of activities await them in the lesson and state the main goals. Then, the previously
assigned homework ( 5 pros and 5 cons of reading online) will be checked and discussed.
After this is done, the teacher will move on to the main part of the lesson.

Main part: (35 minutes)

Individual work: (8-10 minutes)

Next, the students will answer questions in exercise number 4. Then they will read part 2 of
the story and then check their answers together with the teacher.. They will have 5 minutes to
read part 2 of the story and then the teacher will check if their predictions are correct.

Pair work: (5-6 minutes)

The next exercise is exercise number 5. In this vocabulary exercise, the students will have to
find words 1-7 in the story and guess their meaning from the context. When they have done
so, they will need to match the words to their definitions (a-g). They will have 4 minutes to
find the given words and match them to their meanings. Just in case, the teacher will ask if
there are any unknown words and write them on the blackboard and explain them if that is the
case. After that, the teacher will check for the answers and make any corrections if necessary.

Individual work: (5-6 minutes)

In the next activity the students will do is exercise number 6. It will require them to read the
whole story again and choose the correct answer (1-6) . Students will have 5 minutes to read
the story and then the teacher will check their answers.

Pair work: (7-8 minutes)

Next, the students will do exercise number 7. This exercise requires pair work. The students
will have to find the given sentences (a-d) in the story and think about what they refer to.
After they’re done, the teacher will check their answers and provide explanation for anything
that is unclear. Then they will read sentences e-g, find them in the story and point to the
differences between them. This exercise has to do with different writing techniques which are
used for word economy and avoiding repetition of words in text, so the teacher will explain
why these techniques are important and how they can help students write better.

Individual work: (4-5 minutes)

The last exercise that the students will do is the exercise number 8. It will require students to
match sentences a-g from exercise 7 to the rules mentioned in Train your brain box. The
students will have 2 minutes to do this and then the teacher will check their answers.

Final part: (5 minutes)

The teacher will ask if there are any volunteers to summarize what they have done that day.
The teacher will ask questions such as:

 What is your general impression of the story?

 Have you learned any new vocabulary today?

He will also reflect on the aforementioned writing techniques and ask students if they can
name them.

After the revision is complete, the teacher will assign the homework which is exercise number
9 in the book. He will also explain how to do the exercise.

Anticipated problems:

 If the teacher is short of time, exercise number 8 will be omitted and assigned for
homework along with exercise number 9.
 If the students have difficulties doing exercises number 8 and 9, the teacher will use
hints to help and guide them.
